Taking the BRAVES. Not sure how the Thursday Tampa game plays out as I write this up. But, a chance they are on a 5 game losing streak. Zero shot of me taking a team on a five game slide favored over a team that is on a monster 25-4, 19-2 run. Like I say on Mid Day Money - hope in one hand, poop in the other, see what fills up first. Hoping the Rays snap out of a slide. Nope. Atlanta is what Tampa was to start the season - an absolute beast right now. Plus money. Sign me up. 4* Money Maker ATLATNA BRAVES

Taking MIAMI. Yeah. Perez got pasted by the Braves. But last place STL is not Atlanta by any stretch of the imagination. This is a last place club sputtering to the trade deadline looking to unload players. Our guy Eury ran into an absolute buzz saw that ripped him for 2 HRs, 7 hits and 6 Earned in a Third of an inning. 1 out! That is it. I expect a major bounce back here. And by here, I mean at home. Nearly untouchable. 3 runs in 26.2 innings of work. Sparkling .86 WHIP and .186 BAA. Jack Flaherty is off a nice win over the Yanks. But his previous two games, 10.2 inning 20 Hits 12 Earned. 10 hits and 6 Earned in both starts vs the Nats and Giants. At first glace you would think the price is low when you look at the Perez numbers, but we also have Flaherty who, if you take out these 2 and a game vs the Angels (10 Earned in 2.1 innings) the guy has give up 22 runs in 13 starts. That being said, Cardinals in a funk the entire season as they sit in last place. Give me the Marlins. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS

What is there to say - if the Reds didn't have their own star, this rookie would be getting a lot more love. At this price, have to take a good Marlins club. Charlie Morton is a steady vet, but he has give up at least 3 runs in 4 of his last 5 starts. Miami can get to him. Eury gave up 3 in 1 start and then 4 in his other 8! 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS

I know Houston just trucked the Cards, but this staff is better. That is why STL is sitting in last place. And before that offensive explosion, the Astros hadn't been exactly raking the ball this season. I don't want to say bad things about Hunter. I have a ROY Ticket on him! He hasn't been brutal home or away. Kid is exactly as advertised. He is good. But I think the Rangers bat are a tad better. 4* Money Maker TEXAS RANGERS

Taking the PIRATES. Off course they win when I don't bet them. 4 in a row for this streaking bunch. Milwaukee coming off the Mets - and let's be honest, this isn't a very good ballclub. The Brewers are the 2nd worse hitting club in all of MLB (Oakland #1) with their .226 clip. Barely better on the road at .229 - Look, Bido is nothing fancy. He will go 5, strike out 6, give up 6 hits and 2 runs. Pittsburgh has been feisty as heck though. Down 4-0, they could have mailed it. Nothing wrong winning 2 of 3 from San Diego. They didn't quit and pulled it out late. I don't see that kind of heart in the Brewers. Milwaukee 1-8 in Peralta's last 9 road starts, and they are favored tonight? 5.94 road ERA and a .285 BA Against, 1.62 WHIP. We either get them off a loss, or full of themselves winning 4 in a row. There is no RL posted as I write this. For Miami, as much as I like Luzardo going back to his Oakland days, the guy is bad on the road. Opposing hitters raking him for a .309 BA and those hits are producing runs, 5.45 ERA. The Red Sox as #1 in team BA at home at .290. I thought about RL +160 here also. 4* Money Maker BOSTON RED SOX

I will also be on the UNDER in this game as well San Diego has trouble hitting on the road (4th worse all MLB .223) and slightly better vs lefties (.253) Pirates find themselves slumping a bit offensively, but Darvish will give up enough for us to get the win here. 4* Money Maker PITTSBURGH PIRATES

Taking WASHINGTON. Yeah. This is a big hold your nose play. Coming into Saturday action the Nats had dropped 15 of their last 18 games. Yikes. But there is zero chance I am backing Lugo at this price, ML or RL. Guy has a .303 BA Against here at home. If opposing hitters are raking at a 300 clip against, sign me up. I am sure it would shock many to hear that Washington is 6th in all of MLB in team batting average. Normally not what you think of a team 20 games under .500 or however close they are to that. Nats countering with ex Padre prospect MacKenzie Gore. The young lefty has been solid all season. Obviously for him his .226 BA Against while on the road is a big factor here. Couple with the fact that San Diego cannot hit lefties for a lick. - How about a .221, 3rd worse in all of MLB. No team is ever due to win or lose - but I think we have the edge on the mound and at this price, we are firing. 4* Money Maker WASHINGTON NATIONALS

If Oakland wasn't as historically bad as they are, Seattle could possibly be in last place. At this price, how do we not bet the home team? Orioles continue to win. 4th most wins in all of MLB. Taking MIAMI. We will again fade the Pirates. We had the Cubs, again yesterday for another win. We also had the Jays over Miami. That was after we had the Marlins in Games 1 + 2. Think I have a good feel for this Marlins bunch right now. But do we even need it? 9 straight losses and Pittsburgh has no dropped 14 of 16. So much for that fast start. The team is bad. Nothing wrong with that. They have some rebuilding to do. Mitch Keller started off great. He has been leveling off since. And on the road, well, he has walked off the level to a pit. 4 runs allowed at Milwaukee. 5 runs allowed vs Oakland. 4 runs at San Fran. 6 runs at Seattle. Sense a little road trend giving up runs here? How about his overall performance in his last 5 starts? 20 runs. Personally, I think when you have given up 4 or more in 4 of your last 5 starts we have a little problem. Coupled with the Pirates performance this month. Yeah - we take Miami. 4* Money Maker MIAMI MARLINS

Taking the WHITE SOX. So you know I like my streaks. And as I write this the day before, Texas has won 3 in a row heading into this Tuesday night matchup. That being said, even if we are looking at 4 up for the Rangers, and 3 straight L's for the Sox, I have to grab Kopech as a small dog. I can't back Perez in this spot. Guy has been a total Jekyll and Hyde with his splits this season. 1.71 ERA in 5 home starts. Totally dominant. On the road. He is Charlie Hough pitching at 64! 6.50 ERA in 9 starts. Opposing hitters raking a ridiculous .330 against him! 11 HRs allowed. A 1.80 WHIP. I know the Sox are in a little free for all, but I'll take them here. Kopech finally turning the corner and living up to the 1st round pick status. Last 7 games, dealing - 2.01 ERA .99 WHIP 53 Strikeouts in 40 innings. I like it. Honestly. If we go back to May - 9 starts. He has lowered his from a 7.01 to 3.92. Taking the ORIOLES, again. Had them last night, will do it again this afternoon. Yep. Rays great at home. A true juggernaut. But let's not discount Baltimore. (heading into Tuesday night) These guys we tied for most road wins in all of MLB. Wells has been pitching pretty good lately - a .96 WHIP and 206 BA Against in his 3 June starts. We can lower it a bit more if we add his last May start 6 inning 4 hits 1 run. For me though. Let's fade a little Taj Bradley. I like the youngster. But for whatever reason, the kid gets mauled here at home. 4 starts 15 runs (14 ERs) in 17.2 innings of work - allowing opposing hitters to connect at a .301 clip isn't a good look when you come in listed as a 150 favorite. Taking the METS. Thought about RL -130 here, but I will stick with Senga on the ML. Guy has been more than solid at home. 6 starts 1.93 ERA .158 BAA and a decent 1.13 WHIP. Would be even better but the Jays tagged him for 4 runs in 2.2 innings on 4 hits. Otherwise, the guy is 6 innings an a run. Plus. Wainwright. Guy probably should have hung it up last year. Ineffective at home and on the road. 3 starts a 6.75 ERA. Opposing hitters raking .333 against him and a WHIP of 1.75. He is going to come out and give up 3/4 runs across 5 innings of work - possibly more if he doesn't get out of any jams. You put on 2 guys an inning and chances are you will give up some runs. Cards had also dropped 5 in a row coming into Friday nights game. Though Mikolas has been decent the last month or so, no guarantee the crack the win column. And even if they do, Mets have the pitching edge. 4* Money Maker NEW YORK METS

Taking the ORIOLES. Whatever happens on Wednesday (we have Baltimore like we did Tuesday), we will run it back again. We are either sitting on 6 straight wins, or we dropped a game. Either way, Tyler Wells will get us the Win. Guy has been stellar at home. A .188 BAA and .81 WHIP. Should be more than enough to counter Yusei Kikuchi. This guys has been the polar opposite of Wells on the road. A 5 ERA . Opposing hitters raking at a .287 clip, 11 HRs allowed and the O's hit lefties pretty good ranking 8th in HRs vs southpaws. As I write this, (Wed), Baltimore has the 2nd most wins in the league! This team continues to get zero respect. 4* Money Maker BALTIMORE ORIOLES

Taking the PIRATES, again. How the heck is Senga favored here? Forget about whatever happens here on Friday night as I do this writeup. New York comes in off a brutal loss vs Atlanta and another blown game. They lose their best player for about a month. Pirates have been feisty all year. And Senga comes to town with a 6.12 road ERA coupled with a .287 BAA and 1.84 WHIP - Look I am not a big believer that Pittsburgh is going to be in 2nd place and a playoff contender this season. But I will absolutely grab some plus money with a home dog against a team that is in a tailspin. 4* Money Maker PITTSBURGH PIRATES

Taking the WHITE SOX. Not sure why there is still all this love on Alcantara. Guy is not in Cy Young form. He has a 5.07 ERA on the year. A 5.09 ERA last 7. A 5.76 ERA on the road. He has given up 4 or more runs in half his starts (6) - not like 2 games or some limited number. The guy just gave up 5 runs to Oakland. Here come the Sox winners of 6 of 7 off a split vs the Yanks in a double header. Maybe these guys are finally turning the corner winning 6 of their last 8. Kopech had a great May - 6 starts 2.75 ERA .148 BA Against and a .92 WHIP. He is off a strong start of the new month going 7 strong giving up 3 hits and 2 runs with 9 guys. Just pitchers who appear to be going in opposite directions. Will side with the home dog in this one. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX

Taking the BLUE JAYS. Have to continue to fade the Twins. Now 5 straight losses. What a waste since Ryan, Ober and today's starter, Gray, all having solid numbers through early June. The hitting. Yikes. Twins hitting a little better than .220 vs lefties on the year, and a 214 on the road this season - good for 3rd worse in all of MLB behind the Padres (207) and Det (209) - And that is why we will back the Jays on their own little 3 game win streak. Kikuchi at home, much better. Mentioned this when he faced the Mets and he went out and tossed a gem. That being said. Better team. Playing winning baseball. Short number. 4* Money Maker TORONTO BLUE JAYS

Taking the PHILLIES. 5 in a row for Philly. Suarez has looked decent his last 2 starts on the road vs the Mets and Nats. I will chalk up the first couple starts to rehab and getting back into the groove of facing major league hitters. Dodgers salvaged a game after blowing games late to the Reds. The team is 15-17 on the road and at the bottom of league hitting vs lefties and as a road team. Bullpen an issue - Grove isn't a guy I think goes deep here. Why now? He hasn't all season - 4, 3.1,5.2,3,5 - He fits right into them throwing their kids 5 innings no matter how good or bad the game is going. The DBacks really ripped him in Arizona for 9 runs in 3.1 innings (12 hits). That alone will skew anyone numbers. But 3 ER in 4 innings.. 5 innings 4 ER. There is a little cause for concern. Short price with the home team on a win streak. Sign me up. 4* Money Maker PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Taking the RANGERS - had these guys RL last night, will come back ML today. Thought about the RL Plus Money though. Can't back Liberatore from what I have seen in his brief 2023. Not much different from 2022, which was, give up runs and hits. Rangers the best offense in the game. Great at home. Short price in my eyes. Dunning has been great. At 28, finally finding himself and what was expected as a Round 1 pick back in 2016. He was great out of the bullpen to start the year. And has been more than solid as a starter. 5 starts 2.28 ERA 1.04 WHIP 27 innings 27 Hits 21 Ks 7 runs. Texas hitters should rake tonight considering they are batting a league best .295 at home. Oh, also #1 at home in OBP, SLG and OBS percentage. If they don't score at least 6 I will be shocked. Rangers Team Total should also be considered. 4* Money Maker TEXAS RANGERS

Taking the WHITE SOX. I know Giolito has been about average on the year, and hasn't really shown what he was back in 2019-2021. But there is zero shot I am laying in the 150 range with Clarke Schmidt. He has been maybe a little better than Gio, and that is because of a few recent good starts. I am not buying it. White Sox to me still have a dangerous lineup. The Yanks are a team that had Willie Calhoun batting clean-up vs the Dodgers. I know Stanton is back - Rizzo has been fantastic. You have Judge. But the rest of the lineup to me is bad. I will grab the dog in this spot and not think twice. 4* Money Maker CHICAGO WHITE SOX

Taking the NATS. Cashed with these guys the other day in LA, will do it again here at home. Though instead of the Over, we will also be on the UNDER tonight. Gray is a guy who has really found himself this season. The talent was there, and now he is delivering on it. Kid has given up more than 2 runs once in his last 10 starts. He will keep us in the game. Wheeler hasn't been as sharp - but a 3.03 ERA last 7 and a very nice .99 WHIP, so yes, he won't give up too much either. 7 of Wheelers last 10 starts would have sailed under this number, 6 for Gray. The fact that Philly has dropped 4 in a row and have 7 of 12 - well I just can't see why they are favored at this price. Nats are a tough little squad. 4* Money Maker WASHINGTON NATIONALS
