The Yankees are 24-13 at home and lost badly at Houston on Sunday by the score of 8-1. They didn't score until the 9th and now they return home to face Marcus Stroman, who only lasted 4 innings in his last road game, which was a loss at Texas. He pitched against the Yankees less than a month ago.

I expect Aaron Judge, Brett Gardner and company to play well at home and win on Monday night in front of their fans.

The Orioles lost in extra innings on Friday but they are 24-14 at home and should bounce back. Dylan Bundy faces Jake Odirrizzi, who is solid at home but has struggled on the road. I look for Adam Jones and Trumbo to step up and Manny Machado to break out of his slump.

Nice value on the home team as they won 5-4 on Monday and are 13-10 at home while Boston is 10-13 on the road. Former White Sox pitcher Chris Sale starts for Boston and Chicago is 11-5 vs. lefties and #1 in slugging in American League action vs. LHP's. 

Pedroia is out for Boston and so is Pablo Sandoval. Chicago is 12-9 at home. They start Jose Quintana who gave up 8 runs at Arizona but before that allowed 1, 3, 4, 0 and 1. He is 3-0 with a 2.87 ERA vs. Boston and has 60 strikeouts in 61 innings this year. Sale is very good but has cooled down after a fast start. 

Hopefully, we see veterans like Todd Frazier (only .181), Melky Cabrera and Abreu step up as well as Garcia (.326) and Sanchez (.305). Boston may bounce back behind Sale but plenty of value on the White Sox at +162.

Matt Cain is 3-1 with an ERA below 2 at home. We won with him last week at home vs. the Dodgers. SF is above .500 at home and the Braves must trek cross country to play out in California.

I like the Royals as they won easily in 3 of the 4 games. Edison Volquez pitched well at home and won 5-0. Led by a strong offensive attack that can hit with power as well as run the bases with speed. Estrada, Ben Zobrist, Lorenzen Cain and the rest of the lineup made it to the World Series last year but lost in Game Seven so they know how to win. 

Some members of Toronto haven't hit well in this series. Jose Bautista is one Blue Jay that needs to step up. Toronto even used a regular player to pitch yesterday.

LA at NY Mets

10* New York Mets +145

I like the Mets as home underdogs of +138. Kershaw starts for the visitors on just 3 days rest. He is just 1-6 in the postseason and allowed 2 homers in the game one loss. Hopefully, Cespedes, David Wright, Daniel Murphy.etc. continue to play well. It does concern me that the Dodgers are down 2-1 in games and will be eliminated with a loss but nice value on the home team.

KC just lost yesterday at Houston and faced their ace (Dallas Keuchel). I think they bounce back behind Lorenzo Cain and company and win a close one. They are the defending AL champions.

10* Chicago Cubs

This should be a great game but hard to go against Jake Arietta of the Cubs. His ERA has been under 1 in the last 7 starts. The Pirates are at home and have been solid this year but I like the Cubs to win 3-2.

Houston at NY Yankees

I like Houston as Dallas Keuchel is 20-8 with an era of 2.48. He was much better at home but has to play in New York. The Yankees struggled late in the year and their starter (Tanaka) is in the playoffs for the first time and has been injured lately and has just one start in the last 3 weeks. Hopefully, Jose Altude, Correa, Springer, etc.step up in this wildcard game.

10* Houston has won the first two games 21-5 and 6-2 as they are getting good pitching and hitting. Altuve, Correa, Springer and Rasmus have all been hot. De la Rosa starts for the D-Backs and he has done well overall but the team is 5 games under .500 in his starts. Houston needs this game to possible make the wild card. I like the Astros to win 5-3.

Houston is battling for the wild card spot and won last night 21-5. They are a solid home run hitting team. They get power from all positions and 2nd baseman Jose Altuve may be the best at his position. Colin McHugh starts and he faces journeyman Jeremy Hellickson. The ball travels well in Arizona as we saw last night.

I think we see the Astros win 7-4. I like Houston as big favorites as they have been hot and averaging 8.5 runs per game in their last 6 games.

The Rangers return home after losing two in a row at Houston, as both losses were by two runs. They do face Justin Verlander but I think we see Beltre, Shin Choo, Prince Fielder and others step up as they are in the AL pennant race.

Visitors won 9-3 on Monday and hope to get a wild card spot. Team is 6-2 when Happ starts and allowed 2 runs or less.

Rusin has ERA of 5.11.

Pitt wins 6-3.

Boston +111

The Red Sox are just 1/2 game back of the TB Rays and have won 4 in a row at home and 14-8 last 22. Rodriguez has been solid and is 2-1 with an ERA of 1.67 in hius last 3 while Archer's ERA is close to 4 in that span and he has a high ratio of walks lately.

I think it will be motivating to get out of the cellar tonight and maybe even passing the Orioles.

Chris Sale is 0-3 with an ERA of 7.16 in his last 3 starts. The team is 15-13 when he pitches this year. Anderson is 2-1 in his last 3 starts and his ERA is 1.93. The home underdog seems to have nice value on Friday.
