03-15-23 | Wild -135 v. Blues | Top | 8-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 2 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on MIN. The Wild are coming off a 5-4 loss at Arizona on Sunday, and they have had a few days to prepare for tonight's game in St. Louis. Backup goaltender Filip Gustavsson allowed five goal on 23 shots in the loss. We will see Marc Andre Fluery back between the pipes tonight, and he's 3-0 with a 1.68 GAA so far in March. The Wild are 10-3 in their last 13 overall, and they have won four of their last five road games. The Blues are just 3-9 in their last 12 overall, and they are 1-5 in their last six home games. These two teams are trending in opposite directions. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-04-23 | Red Wings v. Islanders -188 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 8 m | Show
This is a 2* play on NYI. The Red Wings have dealt away much of their top talent at the trade deadline, while the Islanders have brought in high end talent from other teams to gear up for a playoff run. That means these two teams are heading in different directions, and they have different goals for the remainder of the season. The home team has won seven straight in this series, and the Red Wings have lost five straight at Long Island. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-02-23 | Predators v. Panthers -160 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -160 | 17 h 56 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on FLA. The Panthers and the Predators are each currently sitting a few points out of a Wild Card spot. The Panthers probably have a far better chance of clinching a playoff spot, and the Predators intentions look pretty clear as they dealt a bunch of their top players at the trade deadline. Home ice has been kind to Florida, as they are 64-25 in their last 89 home games. A win over Nashville could pull them within two points of a playoff spot. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-28-23 | Kings v. Jets -137 | Top | 6-5 | Loss | -137 | 20 h 6 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on the Jets. Winnipeg is gearing up for the playoffs, and picking up Nino Niederreiter at the trade deadline says plenty about their intentions. They come into tonight's game against LA as losers of five of their last six, but they have won four of their last five versus LA. This is a tough spot for the Kings who are the end of a long road trip. The Kings have lost seven of their last 10 versus teams with a winning record, and they are 3-8 in their last 11 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation. The Kings are 5-12 in the last 17 meetings in Winnipeg. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-20-23 | Jets v. Rangers -165 | 4-1 | Loss | -165 | 19 h 50 m | Show
This is a 4* play on NYR. The Jets are coming off a 4-2 loss at New Jersey on Sunday, and they play the second game of a back to back on the road at New York on Monday. The Rangers had won seven straight before losing in overtime at Calgary on Saturday. New York has won five straight at home, and the Rangers are 12-1 in their last 13 versus Western Conference teams. The Jets have lost four straight versus Eastern Conference teams, and they are 9-25 in their last 34 versus the Metropolitan Division. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-10-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Rangers -172 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 18 h 5 m | Show
This is a 2* play on the NYR. The Seattle Kraken are in a tough spot on Friday night. They play the second game of a back to back in New York City, after losing 3-1 at New Jersey last night. They come into this game in a slump, losing six of their last nine overall and three straight on the road. The Rangers have won nine straight versus Western Conference teams, and four straight at home. They are 10-4 in their last 14 games playing on 1 days rest. GL, Jesse Schule |
01-21-23 | Oilers -165 v. Canucks | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 20 h 26 m | Show
This is a 2* play on EDM. The Oilers have won five straight overall, and they are just three points out of first place in the Pacific Division with a game in hand on first place Seattle. The Canucks have lost six of seven, and this season is a lost cause for Vancouver. This might be a revenge spot for the Oilers, who lost at home two Vancouver two days before Christmas. Edmonton had won five straight in the series prior to that loss. This matchup features Edmonton's NHL best power play against the Canucks 31st ranked penalty killing unit. Only the Anaheim Ducks have allowed more power play goals than Vancouver. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-22-22 | Seattle Kraken -110 v. Canucks | Top | 5-6 | Loss | -110 | 21 h 24 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on SEA. The Vancouver Canucks have won all five head to head meetings versus division rivals Seattle, but I am going to fade that 100% trend here tonight. These two teams are obviously trending in opposite directions, as Vancouver is coming off back to back 5-1 home losses, and the Canucks are rumored to be shopping team captain Bo Horvat and star defenseman Quinn Hughes. The Kraken are coming off back to back home wins, but they actually have a better road record than they do at home. The Kraken are 7-3 in their last 10 road games, and they are 11-3 in their last 14 games following a win. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-14-22 | Canucks v. Flames -150 | 4-3 | Loss | -150 | 21 h 55 m | Show
This is a 2* play on Calgary. The Flames are a Jeckyll and Hyde team, with 10 wins at home and just three on the road. They are coming off three straight road losses, but two of those games were decided in OT. The Flames are 7-3 in their last 10 versus Vancouver, and they have won four of their last five home games versus the Canucks. The Canucks are 5-17 in the last 22 meetings in Calgary. Vancouver has recently failed to re-sign captain Bo Horvat, and are expected to be shopping him around the league. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-10-22 | Flames v. Maple Leafs -154 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 19 h 54 m | Show
This is a 4* play on TOR. The Leafs host the Calgary Flames on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night, and the Flames are playing their second game of a back to back after losing in Columbus last night. The Leafs have won seven of their last eight overall, and they are 40-15 in their last 55 home games. The Flames have lost four straight when playing the second game of a back to back. The Flames have lost four straight road games and they are 4-10 in their last 14 games versus the Eastern Conference. GL, Jesse Schule |
11-12-22 | Jets v. Flames -140 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 19 h 30 m | Show
This is a 4* play on CAL. After winning five of their first six games, the Flames have lost seven straight. They should be playing desperate hockey here tonight at home versus Winnipeg. The Jets are 3-7 in their last 10 road games, and they are in a bit of a let down spot coming off three straight home wins. GL, Jesse Schule |
11-03-22 | Predators v. Flames -180 | 4-1 | Loss | -180 | 19 h 44 m | Show
This is a 2* play on the Flames. Calgary is coming off back to back losses, but a home game against Nashville looks like a good spot to get back on track. The Predators have lost seven of their last eight overall, and they have lost seven in a row when playing on 1 days rest. The Flames are 29-14 in their last 43 home games, and they have won six straight versus teams with a winning percentage of .400 or worse. The Predators are 0-6 in their last six games following a loss of 3 or more goals. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-28-22 | Penguins -150 v. Canucks | 1-5 | Loss | -150 | 17 h 12 m | Show
This is a 2* play on PIT. The Canucks got their first win of the season last night in Seattle, but put the Stanley Cup Parade on hold. They still rank near the bottom of the league in goals against, and they are brutal on special teams. They face a Penguins team Friday that boasts a Top 10 power play unit, and ranks 1st in the league in scoring averaging 4.29 goals per game. The Penguins lost back to back road games in Calgary and Edmonton, but have had a few days off to get ready for the Canucks. Vancouver is playing the second game of a back to back, and they are 13-43 in their last 56 games playing on 0 days rest. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-18-22 | Kings v. Predators -147 | 4-3 | Loss | -147 | 19 h 49 m | Show
This is a 2* play on NASH. This looks like a potential let down spot for the LA Kings, coming off an overtime win over Detroit last night. You would think the Kings would turn to their backup netminder here in the second game of a back to back. Cal Peterson allowed six goals on 35 shots against Minnesota in his only start this season. The Kings have lost eight of their last 10 versus Nashville, and four straight at Bridgestone Arena. The Predators are 24-9 in their last 33 games playing on 2 days rest. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-17-22 | Ducks v. Rangers -185 | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 16 h 22 m | Show

06-26-22 | Avalanche v. Lightning +105 | 2-1 | Loss | -100 | 22 h 59 m | Show
This is an 8* play on TB. Darcy Keumper bounced back from a poor performance in Game 3 in Tampa with a solid Game 4. He wasn't terrible in a Game 5 loss in Colorado, but in a game decided by one goal he let in a bad one. Andrei Vasilevskij allowed two goals on 37 shots in Game 5, and he's really in the zone right now. The Lightning have the momentum, they have home ice in Game 6, and they have the better goalie. GL, Jesse Schule |
06-24-22 | Lightning v. Avalanche -164 | 3-2 | Loss | -164 | 44 h 38 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Colorado. The Lightning had Colorado on the ropes, taking a 2-1 lead to the third period of Game 4 and coming so close to tying the series and taking all the momentum. Instead they lost a heart breaker in overtime, and it's really tough to see them coming back from that. Darcy Keumper bounced back by stopping 37 of 39 shots in Game 4. While injuries are piling up for the Lightning, the Avs are getting healthier. It was Nazem Kadri who scored the game winner in Game 4, in his first game back after being sidelined since Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. The Cup will be in the building tonight, and the last time Tampa played in Denver they lost by a touchdown. GL, Jesse Schule |
06-22-22 | Avalanche v. Lightning +100 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 42 h 28 m | Show
06-20-22 | Avalanche v. Lightning -106 | Top | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 9 h 40 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on TB. The two time defending champions are on the ropes, but with the series back in Tampa and the Lightning coming off a 7-0 loss in Game 2, we should expect some push back. Keep in mind that Tampa was down 0-2 to the Rangers in the East Finals, and went on to win four straight. Andrei Vasilevskij allowed just three goals in the final three games of that series. The Lightning are 8-3 in their last 11 Stanley Cup Finals games, and they are 40-15 in their last 55 home games. Colorado is due to suffer a let down in Game 3. GL, Jesse Schule |
06-07-22 | Rangers v. Lightning -170 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 23 h 19 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Tampa. The Lightning are back in the series after scoring in the final minute to steal Game 3 on home ice. They head into Game 4 with all the momentum, and I expect to see this series even at 2-2 heading back to New York. The Rangers are now 1-6 in their last seven road games as an underdog, and the home team has won four of the last five meetings. While Game 3 was close on the scoreboard, the Lightning out-shot the Rangers 52-30. Igor Shesterkin stood on his head, but the Rangers can't continue to count on their netminder to win games by himself. The lightning have their own world class goaltender, and Vasilevskij was 20-8 with a 2.23 GAA at home this season. GL, Jesse Schule |
06-05-22 | Rangers v. Lightning -170 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 20 h 35 m | Show
This is a 6* play on TB. The Eastern Conference Finals might be the polar opposite of the West Finals, which produced 14 goals in Game 1. The Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin was the best in the NHL in the regular season, while nobody has been better than Andrei Vaselevskiy in the post-season. The Lightning are 37-15 in their last 52 games as a home favorite, and the home team is 9-1 in the last 10 head to head meetings. GL, Jesse Schule |
06-04-22 | Avalanche v. Oilers +116 | 4-2 | Loss | -100 | 20 h 57 m | Show
This is an 8* play on EDM. Backup goaltender Pavel Francouz stepped in and recorded a shutout in Game 2, but the Oilers are 20-6 in their last 26 home games, and the home team has won seven of the last eight meetings. I expect the best of the Oilers here in Game 3. |
06-03-22 | Lightning -122 v. Rangers | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -122 | 19 h 13 m | Show |
10* |
05-27-22 | Avalanche -168 v. Blues | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 17 h 13 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Colorado. I said this prior to Game 5:"The Blues will be singing a sad song when this series is over, as they appeared to be in great shape prior to the injury to Jordan Binnington. Since coming in to replace Binnington, Ville Husso has allowed nine goals on 59 shots. The Avs won back to back games by a combined six goal margin. They return home for Game 5 looking to book their spot in the conference finals, and I think this is going to be a blowout. The Avalanche are 17-5 in the last 22 meetings, and the Blues are 4-10 in their last 14 playoff games as an underdog." Colorado blew a three goal lead, allowing the Blues to steal a win and extend the series. I can't see that happening again here tonight. GL, Jesse Schule |
05-26-22 | Oilers v. Flames -145 | 5-4 | Loss | -145 | 18 h 12 m | Show
This is a 2* play on Calgary. |
05-23-22 | Panthers v. Lightning -120 | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 15 h 11 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Tampa. The Florida Panthers finished with the best record in the NHL in the regular season, and here in the playoffs that and $5 might get you a can of coke. Wins in the regular season don't always translate into playoff success, and the Lightning are defending champions two years running. They have superior goaltending, playoff experience and great coaching. Now they have a chance to close out this series on home ice, and Florida is 1-6 in their last seven playoff games as an underdog. The Panthers are 8-22 in the last 30 meetings in Tampa Bay. GL, Jesse Schule |
05-19-22 | Lightning v. Panthers -155 | 2-1 | Loss | -155 | 18 h 5 m | Show
This is an 8* play on FLA. The Lightning stole home ice advantage after winning Game 1 on the road, but it took an other worldly effort from Andrei Vasilevskij. He stopped 33 of 34 shots he faced, keeping Tampa in the game and the scored tied heading into the third period. A pair of late power play goals turned a close game into what appeared to be a blowout. The Panthers are 15-7 in their last 22 games following a loss of 3 or more goals, and they are 46-9 in their last 55 games as a home favorite. This is a must win for Florida, and I expect them to even the series at 1-1. GL, Jesse Schule |
05-15-22 | Penguins v. Rangers -133 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 17 h 23 m | Show
This is an 8* play on NYR. Here is what I said prior to Game 6: "The Rangers are still trailing in this series, but the momentum has started to swing their way. The Penguins are down to their third string goaltender, and superstar forward Sidney Crosby might not be available for Game 6 because of a possible concussion. With nine points in five games, needless to say it would be a huge loss for the Penguins if Crosby can't go. The Rangers have done historically quite well when favored on the road, going 64-27 in their last 91 games as a road favorite." Crosby is back skating, yet his status for Game 7 is still in question. Domingue allowed four goals on 33 shots in Game 6. The Rangers have home ice advantage, and all the momentum. GL, Jesse Schule |
05-13-22 | Rangers -118 v. Penguins | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 16 h 15 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Rangers. The Rangers are still trailing in this series, but the momentum has started to swing their way. The Penguins are down to their third string goaltender, and superstar forward Sidney Crosby might not be available for Game 6 because of a possible concussion. With nine points in five games, needless to say it would be a huge loss for the Penguins if Crosby can't go. The Rangers have done historically quite well when favored on the road, going 64-27 in their last 91 games as a road favorite. GL, Jesse Schule |
05-12-22 | Maple Leafs v. Lightning -115 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 42 h 9 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on TB. I said this prior to Game 4: "The Leafs looked like the best team in the NHL in Game 3, but I am not ready to discount two decades of playoff futility after just 60 minutes of hockey. The Lightning are defending champions two years running, with a Vezina winner and Conn Smythe winner in goal. It would be naive not to expect some push back from the Lightning in Game 4." Tampa went on to win Game 4 by a score of 7-3. Tampa appeared to be in the driver's seat in Game 5 in Toronto, leading 2-0 after the first period. The Leafs pulled on out of the fire, but I think that sets them up for a let down here in Tampa in Game 6. This series is destined to go seven games. GL, Jesse Schule |
05-12-22 | Hurricanes v. Bruins -123 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 18 h 49 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Bruins. Game 1 of this series looks like a blowout when you see the final score, but that doesn't accurately describe what happened. The Bruins looked like the better team in the first period, and the Canes were a little fortunate to take a 2-0 lead into the third period. Boston scored early in the third and it looked like it was game on, but then the Canes piled on with a string of late goals. Boston dominated shots on goal, with a 36-24 edge. They need to make life more difficult for Annti Ranta, with traffic in front of the net and constant pressure. This is a veteran team that is sure to push back. Expect Brad Marchand to be on top form tonight. GL, Jesse Schule |
05-10-22 | Blues v. Wild -133 | 5-2 | Loss | -133 | 18 h 22 m | Show
This is a 7* play on Minny. I had the Wild in Game 1, and despite the loss I am doubling down. Here is what I said prior to Game 1: "The Wild come into the post-season as perhaps the hottest team in the NHL. They won 19 of their last 26 regular season games. They made some big moves at the trade deadline, adding a veteran netminder with three Stanley Cup rings and a Vezina Trophy. Fleury is 9-2 with a 2.74 GAA since joining the Wild. While Minnesota has a proven playoff performer, the Blues turn to Ville Husso, who had an outstanding regular season. The 27 year old lacks Playoff experience. The Blues are 0-6 in their last six playoff games as an underdog, and the Wild are 51-16 in their last 67 home games." GL, Jesse Schule |
05-09-22 | Rangers -103 v. Penguins | 2-7 | Loss | -103 | 18 h 4 m | Show
This is an 8* play on NYR. I had the Rangers in Game 1, and here is what I said prior to the game: "The Pittsburgh Penguins still have star power with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, but they lost their starting goaltender at the end of the regular season. History tells us that goaltending is the most important ingredient to a successful run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Backup goalie Casey DeSmith will be filling in for Tristan Jarry. He faced the Rangers once in the regular season conceding four goals in an overtime loss. The Rangers are in good shape with Igor Shesterkin who lead the NHL in GAA as well as save percentage. The home team is just a small favorite and they have the best goalie in the world at the moment. The Rangers look like a bargain at this price." Casey DeSmith left Game 1 with a lower body injury, and Louis Domingue stepped in. The Penguins 3rd string netminder has given up nine goals in his last two starts. GL, Jesse Schule |

05-05-22 | Penguins v. Rangers -150 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 19 h 17 m | Show
This is an 8* play on NYR. 04-16-22 | Sharks v. Stars -185 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 20 h 59 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Dallas. The playoff race in the Western Conference is too close to call. Only two points separate the 6,7,8, and 9th place teams. Dallas currently holds the eighth and final Wild Card spot, but that could change if they fail to win tonight's home game against the Sharks. San Jose has already been eliminated from the playoffs, and they have lost eight in a row. The Sharks are 5-18 in their last 23 road games, and they are are 0-6 in the last six meetings in Dallas. The home team is 22-8 in the last 30 meetings. GL, Jesse Schule |

04-03-22 | Stars -148 v. Seattle Kraken | 1-4 | Loss | -148 | 9 h 38 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Dallas. As much as I don't like betting on teams playing on back to back nights, the Stars rested their starting goalie in San Jose last night. Starter Jake Oettinger should be back between the pipes tonight in Seattle. The Stars are 6-1 in their last seven overall, and four of those wins came on the road. The Kraken are struggling after trading away their best players at the trade deadline. The Kraken are 5-16 in their last 21 games as a home underdog, and they are 17-40 in their last 57 overall. The Stars are 5-0 in their last five road games, and they are 25-8 in their last 33 games as a favorite. GL, Jesse Schule |
04-01-22 | Predators -180 v. Sabres | 3-4 | Loss | -180 | 7 h 39 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Nashville Predators. Nashville is currently holding one of the Wild Card spots in the Western Conference, but the Vegas Golden Knights are right on their heels trailing by just four points. They can't afford to slip up here in a must win game on the road at Buffalo, where the Sabres have lost two of their last three. Buffalo ranks 25th in the NHL in goals against, and well below average on special teams. The Sabres are not playing for anything other than respect at this point in the season and may have a tough time matching the intensity of a team hungry to earn a playoff spot. The Predators are 35-16 in their last 51 games as a favorite, and they are 8-1 in the last nine meetings in Buffalo. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-30-22 | Golden Knights -156 v. Seattle Kraken | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the VGK. The Golden Knights have now slipped out of a playoff spot, trailing Dallas by one point for the final Wild Card position. This makes tonight's game in Seattle a must win for the visitors, but the good news is that Seattle is just 5-15 in their last 20 home games. The Kraken are 7-24 in their last 31 games as an underdog, and they have failed to cover in 11 of their last 13 as a home dog. This is it for Vegas, do or die against an inferior opponent. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-26-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Kings -198 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 12 h 52 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the LA Kings. The Kings are currently sitting in a playoff spot, but they are just a few points ahead of the Wild Card teams. They host the basement dwelling Seattle Kraken tonight, and the Kraken have been dealing players at the trade deadline. While it has been a successful inaugural season for Seattle, that hasn't resulted in too many wins. The Kraken are 6-23 in their last 29 games as an underdog, and they are 1-7 in their last eight games following a win. The Kings are 14-5 in their last 19 games as a favorite. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-22-22 | Rangers -150 v. Devils | 4-7 | Loss | -150 | 29 h 4 m | Show
This is an 8* play on NYR. |
03-17-22 | Sharks v. Kings -148 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 0 m | Show
This is an 8* play on LAK. The Kings are currently sitting in a playoff spot, but they are only a few points ahead of the teams chasing a Wild Card spot. There is little margin for error, and they need a win tonight at home against the Sharks. San Jose isn't in the running for a playoff spot, and they are looking to trade players ahead of the trade deadline. The Sharks are 18-38 in their last 56 games as an underdog, and they are 4-12 in their last 16 overall. The Kings are 12-4 in their last 16 games as a favorite, and they are 12-3 in their last 15 versus a team with a losing record. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-15-22 | Devils v. Canucks -150 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 30 h 8 m | Show
This is an 8* play on VAN. A coaching change can completely turn around a hockey club. It was just three years ago that the St. Louis Blues replaced head coach Mike Yeo, and went from last place to first place and on to win the Stanley Cup. We've seen Bruce Boudreau inspire the Vancouver Canucks to a record of 20-8-4, putting them back in the hunt for the playoffs. Vancouer is just three points out of a Wild Card spot, and that makes every game from here on out a must win. That's especially true when playing at home against a bottom feeder like New Jersey. The Devils are 7-20 in their last 27 road games. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-15-22 | Coyotes v. Canadiens -160 | 6-3 | Loss | -160 | 24 h 9 m | Show
This is an 8* play on MTL. Montreal has also turned things around with seven wins in their last 10 games under new head coach Martin St. Louis. The Coyotes are playing on the road in the second game of a back to back, a situation that they haven't had a lot of success in. The Coyotes are 2-6 in their last eight games playing on back to back nights, and they are 18-45 in their last 63 games as a road underdog. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-12-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Canadiens -114 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -114 | 31 h 47 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on MTL. Montreal has also turned things around with seven wins in their last nine games under new head coach Martin St. Louis. The Kraken have lost 10 of their last 11 overall, and they are looking forward to a lottery pick in the draft. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-03-22 | Oilers -137 v. Blackhawks | 3-4 | Loss | -137 | 20 h 28 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Edmonton. A coaching change can completely turn around a hockey club. It was just three years ago that the St. Louis Blues replaced head coach Mike Yeo, and went from last place to first place and on to win the Stanley Cup. We've seen Bruce Budreau inspire the Vancouver Canucks to a record of 17-7-4, putting them back in the hunt for the playoffs. The Edmonton Oilers won five straight when Jay Woodcroft took over, and now they are 6-3 in their last nine games. The Hawks have lost eight of their last 11 overall, and they are 16-37 in their last 53 games as an underdog. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-02-22 | Predators -163 v. Seattle Kraken | 3-4 | Loss | -163 | 20 h 40 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Nashville. The Kraken have lost seven straight, and they are sitting dead last in the Pacific Division. They host Nashville tonight, and the Predators are currently holding a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. The Predators are 4-1 in their last five games as a road favorite, and they are 35-17 in their last 52 games as a favorite. The Predators need the points here, and Seattle is just going through the motions in their first season as an expansion team. GL, Jesse Schule |
03-01-22 | Oilers -155 v. Flyers | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 18 h 11 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Edmonton. The Flyers are in last place in the Metropolitan Division, and they have lost six of their last seven overall. Philly won their last game by a score of 2-1 versus Washington, but they are 7-22 in their last 29 games following a win. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-28-22 | Canucks +105 v. Devils | 2-7 | Loss | -100 | 19 h 1 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Vancouver. With each win, the next game becomes all that much more important for Vancouver. They are playing the second game of a back to back on the road in New Jersey, but their opponent has nothing left to play for. The Devils are 8-26 in their last 34 games playing on 2 days rest. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-27-22 | Islanders v. Ducks -110 | 4-0 | Loss | -110 | 17 h 12 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks are just two points out of a Wild Card spot, while the Islanders are 19 points back of Washington in the Eastern Conference Wild Card race. This is a must win game for the home team, and the Ducks have won 15 of their last 20 against teams with a losing record. The Ducks are 12-4 in their last 16 games as a favorite, and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games as a home favorite. The Islanders are 7-20 in their last 27 games as an underdog, and they have lost five of their last six road games. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-26-22 | Wild v. Flames -139 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 23 h 32 m | Show |
This is a 10* play on Calgary. The Flames were the hottest team in the NHL until they lost 7-1 at Vancouver. They are back home tonight, looking to get that awful taste out of their mouths. The Minnesota Wild are playing their fourth game on this road trip, and they have lost four of their last five overall. The Flames are 10-1 in their last 11 home games, while the Wild have lost four of their last five on the road. The Flames have won five of the last seven head to head meetings, and they are likely to scorch the Wild here tonight. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-24-22 | Bruins -195 v. Seattle Kraken | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 30 h 25 m | Show
5* |
02-21-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Canucks -160 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 26 h 46 m | Show
This is a 7* play on VAN. The Kraken sit dead last in the Pacific Division with a record of 16-31-4, and I have been fading them since December. I noted that the bookmakers are giving them too much respect, and I hypothesized that the success of the Vegas Golden Knights as an expansion team has skewed people's idea of what should be expected from an expansion team. If you look at other last place teams in the NHL (Arizona, New Jersey, Montreal), you will notice that the odds to bet against them are far higher. This is a huge game for Vancouver with the trade deadline looming large. The Canucks still need to figure out if they are buyers or sellers, and a win tonight would go a long way in helping them decide which direction they are headed. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-18-22 | Stars -145 v. Blackhawks | 1-0 | Win | 100 | 21 h 24 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Dallas. The Stars are one point out of the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, but they do have games in hand. Chicago has just three wins in their last 12 games overall, and they are closer to a top draft pick than they are to a playoff spot. The Stars are 5-0 in their last five road games, and they are 16-5 in their last 21 games as a favorite. The Blackhawks got blown out by Colombus last night, and they are just 2-8 in their last 10 games playing on back to back nights. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-12-22 | Islanders v. Flames -165 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 18 h 37 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Flames. The Flames are hot, and they host the Islanders playing on the back end of a back to back Saturday. The Isles are in Edmonton Friday, and they are 1-6 in their last seven when playing on back to back nights. The Flames have won five straight, five straight at home, and five of their last six head to head versus the Isles. Calgary ranks second in the NHL in goals against and owns the league's 3rd best penalty killing unit. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-11-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Ducks -145 | 4-3 | Loss | -145 | 10 h 31 m | Show
This is a free play on ANA. The Kraken sit dead last in the Pacific Division with a record of 15-28-4, and I have been fading them since December. I noted that the bookmakers are giving them too much respect, and I hypothesized that the success of the Vegas Golden Knights as an expansion team has skewed people's idea of what should be expected as an expansion team. If you look at other last place teams in the NHL (Arizona, New Jersey, Montreal), you will notice that the odds to bet against them are far higher. Seattle was roughly a 3-1 favorite in their last game, and they lost ourtright by a score of 5-2 versus Arizona. They are on the road tonight at Anaheim, and the Ducks are fighting for a playoff spot. Anaheim should be a bigger favorite versus Seattle, than the Kraken should be against Arizona (IMO). I'll take the home favorite. GL, Jesse Schule |
02-02-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Islanders -160 | 3-0 | Loss | -160 | 18 h 4 m | Show
This is a 5* play on NYI. The Kraken sit dead last in the Pacific Division with a record of 14-27-4, and I have been fading them since December. The Islanders are 10-1 in their last 11 games as a favorite, and they catch the Kraken playing on back to back nights. GL, Jesse Schule |
01-29-22 | Jets v. Blues -170 | 4-1 | Loss | -170 | 12 h 26 m | Show
This is a 5* play on STL. The Winnipeg Jets are coming off a home loss to Vancouver, and it's become crystal clear that this team is not going to be competitive this season. It was an ominous sign when their head coach abruptly resigned earlier this season. The Jets are 3-14 in their last 17 games as an underdog, and they are 3-7 in their last 10 games following a loss of 3 or more goals. The Blues are 14-2 in their last 16 home games. GL, Jesse Schule |
01-24-22 | Blues v. Flames -135 | 1-7 | Win | 100 | 19 h 27 m | Show
This is a free play on CAL. Calgary is eight points out of first place in the Pacific Division, but they have five games in hand on the 1st place Vegas Golden Knights. The Blues are coming off a 3-1 win in Vancouver last night, and they catch the Flames on the back end of a back to back. Ville Husso got the start last night, which could be an indication that Jordan Binnington will be in the net tonight in Calgary. Binnington has been lit up in his last four starts, allowing a total of 16 goals. The Blues are just 4-8 in their last 12 road games. GL, Jesse Schule |
01-17-22 | Blackhawks -104 v. Seattle Kraken | 2-3 | Loss | -104 | 20 h 20 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Chicago. The Hawks have won four straight, keeping their playoff hopes alive. The Kraken on the other hand have lost nine straight, and trade rumors are buzzing about their veteran talent. The Kraken rank 31st in the NHL in goals against, while Chicago is riding a hot goalie. Marc Andre Fleury has won eight of his last 10 starts. This game appears to be a mismatch, but that isn't reflected in the betting line. I'll take the visitors. GL, Jesse Schule |
01-13-22 | Canadiens v. Blackhawks -185 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 18 h 28 m | Show
5* |
01-12-22 | Seattle Kraken v. Stars -183 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 24 h 0 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Dallas. I've been fading the Kraken for the majority of the season, and here in Big D they face a team fighting for a playoff spot. The last place Kraken have lost nine of their last 10 overall, and they are 4-9-1 overall on the road. Seattle ranks 30th in the NHL in goal against, allowing 3.68 goals per game. The Stars are 10-3 in their last 13 games as a favorite, and they are 19-7 in their last 26 home games. Dallas could easily be a 3-1 favorite here. GL, Jesse Schule |
01-11-22 | Red Wings v. Sharks -130 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 19 h 45 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Sharks. The Sharks went 2-2 on a four game road trip, with one of the losses coming at Detroit. They host the Red Wings tonight, and they look good at home in a revenge game. The Red Wings are just 4-11-2 on the road, and they coming off back to back losses at LA and Anaheim. The Red Wings are 13-62 in their last 75 games as a road underdog, and they are 6-14 in the last 20 meetings in San Jose. The Sharks have won four in a row as a favorite. GL, Jesse Schule |
01-02-22 | Flames -145 v. Blackhawks | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 19 h 37 m | Show
This is a 7* play on Calgary. The Flames have had eight games postponed due to to Covid, and now they are in a great spot to win the Pacific Division. They sit six points out of first place, but they have the highest win percentage and several games in hand. With all their big guns back in the lineup, they will have a huge advantage when they get back on the ice. The situation is not so optimistic for Chicago, who sit 17 points back of first place St. Louis in the Central Division. Chicago has won 11 games, and Marc Andre Fleury was in the net for all but two of those wins. With Fleury on the Covid list, the Hawks options in the net are not great. The Flames are 8-2 in their last 10 versus the Hawks, and they have won four straight in Chicago. GL, Jesse Schule |
01-01-22 | Canucks -108 v. Seattle Kraken | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 25 h 17 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Vancouver. The Canucks are back to .500 after winning six of seven under Bruce Boudreau. The only loss came in overtime at LA, and they will look to get back in the winners column tonight at Seattle. The last place Kraken have lost seven of their last eight overall, and six straight at home. Seattle ranks 31st in the NHL in goal against, allowing 3.63 goals per game. The Canucks are riding a hot goalie, as Thatcher Demko was 7-1 with a 1.72 GAA in December. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-31-21 | Ducks v. Golden Knights -184 | 1-3 | Win | 100 | 3 h 24 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Vegas. The Ducks are just 1 point behind first place Las Vegas in the Pacific Division, but it would be a mistake to think these teams are close. The Knights had to survive an extended streak without forwards Marc Stone, Max Pacioretty and William Karlson. Now that they are back, Vegas has won nine of their last 11 games. History certainly favors Vegas here, as the Ducks are 4-18 in the last 22 meetings. They have lost eight of their last nine at Vegas. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-30-21 | Flames -140 v. Seattle Kraken | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 18 h 22 m | Show
This is a 5* play on CAL. The Flames have had eight games postponed due to to Covid, and now they are in a great spot to win the Pacific Division. They sit six points out of first place, but they have the highest win percentage and several games in hand. With all their big guns back in the lineup, they will have a huge advantage when they get back on the ice. The Kraken lost last night at home versus Philly, and they have lost six of their last seven overall and five straight at home. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-19-21 | Blues v. Jets -125 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 16 h 8 m | Show
This is an 8* play on WPG. The Jets came into the season as a serious Stanley Cup contender, but they have had a rather lackluster start. Despite a winning record, head coach Paul Maurice announced his resignation. Dave Lowry will take over, and this will be his first game as the new head coach. We have already seen what kind of an impact a new coach can have, with the Canucks winning six straight since Bruce Boudreau took over. The Blues have lost six of their last seven road games, and they can't be too thrilled to be on a three game road trip north of the border that doesn't see them return home until Christmas Eve. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-18-21 | Oilers -120 v. Seattle Kraken | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 25 h 0 m | Show
This is an 8* play on EDM. I had this to say about the Kraken a few days ago: "The betting public appears to be supporting Seattle's expansion team, perhaps due to the success of the Vegas Golden Knights just a few seasons ago. Such success for an expansion team is certainly not the norm, and I believe it's naive to think Seattle can do what Las Vegas did." They have lost four of their last five, and they host an Edmonton team that just snapped a six game losing streak. The Oilers NEED to follow up a 5-2 win over CBJ with another win over an inferior opponent. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-16-21 | Kings v. Panthers -142 | 4-1 | Loss | -142 | 6 h 47 m | Show
This is a 5* play on FLA. The Panthers are coming off a home loss to Ottawa, just their second home loss of the season. They are 14-2 at home, and starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is 9-0 with a 2.40 GAA on home ice. The Kings are expected to go with their backup goaltender, and Cal Peterson is 1-3-1 with a 3.58 GAA on the road. The Kings are 4-9 in their last 13 overall, and they are 7-16 in their last 23 games as an underdog. The Panthers are 5-0 in their last five games following a home loss of 3 or more goals. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-15-21 | Seattle Kraken v. Ducks -150 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 20 h 37 m | Show
This is an 8* play on ANA. I had this to say about the Kraken last night: "The betting public appears to be supporting Seattle's expansion team, perhaps due to the success of the Vegas Golden Knights just a few seasons ago. Such success for an expansion team is certainly not the norm, and I believe it's naive to think Seattle can do what Las Vegas did. The Kraken have lost three straight, and they rank 30th in the league in goals against. For some reason they are just a small underdog here on the road in San Jose." I am going to double down with the "fade the Kraken" strategy here with the last place team playing on back to back nights versus the first place Ducks. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-14-21 | Seattle Kraken v. Sharks -140 | 3-1 | Loss | -140 | 47 h 22 m | Show
This is an 8* play on SJS. The Sharks are six points out of first place in the Pacific Division, and 10 points clear of last place Seattle. The betting public appears to be supporting Seattle's expansion team, perhaps due to the success of the Vegas Golden Knights just a few seasons ago. Such success for an expansion team is certainly not the norm, and I believe it's naive to think Seattle can do what Las Vegas did. The Kraken have lost three straight, and they rank 30th in the league in goals against. For some reason they are just a small underdog here on the road in San Jose. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-11-21 | Bruins v. Flames -132 | 4-2 | Loss | -132 | 21 h 19 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Calgary. The Boston Bruins are coming off back to back road games, both decided by just one goal. They lost in a shootout in Vancouver, and then won 3-2 at Edmonton. Playing their third straight road game in Calgary is a tough spot, and I don't like their chances of winning both games in Alberta. The first place Flames are looking to snap a three game losing skid. The Bruins are 1-6 in their last seven games as an underdog, and they have lost four straight when coming off a win. The Flames are 37-16 in their last 53 versus teams from the Eastern Conference. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-11-21 | Hurricanes v. Oilers -122 | 3-1 | Loss | -122 | 21 h 18 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Edmonton. The Oilers have lost four straight, but a home game on Hockey Night in Canada figures to be a great spot to snap out of this losing skid. The Oilers are 9-4 in their last 13 games as a home favorite. Carolina has won three straight, coming off games at Winnipeg and Calgary. I don't expect them to to win back to back games in the Province of Alberta. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-08-21 | Stars v. Golden Knights -135 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 19 h 55 m | Show
This is an 8* play on VGK. Vegas has had a pretty slow start to the season, but perhaps that's understandable when you consider the injuries that they have had. Marc Stone has missed a dozen games, Max Pacioretty has missed 17 games, and William Karlsson has missed 16 games. They are all back, and playing well, and the Knights look like a team primed to go on a run. The Stars are 6-13 in their last 19 games as a road underdog, and the Golden Knights are 50-21 in their last 71 home games. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-03-21 | Oilers -125 v. Seattle Kraken | 3-4 | Loss | -125 | 20 h 11 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Edmonton. The Kraken return home from a successful road trip, earning points in three of four games. They are 4-1-1 in their last six overall, but I can't help but think they have become a little overvalued. As exciting as it was to see the Vegas Golden Knights become one of the league's best teams in their first season, that's absolutely not what we normally see for an expansion team. Even after playing over their heads for the last week, Seattle is still tied for last place in the Pacific Division. Tonight they host the Oilers who are a point out of first in the Division. The Oilers own the league's #1 power play, and they are 16-5 in their last 21 overall. GL, Jesse Schule |
12-02-21 | Blues v. Lightning -135 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 17 h 2 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Tampa. The Lightning are coming off back to back losses, and they face the Blues in a revenge spot after losing at St. Louis a few days ago. The Blues are 3-7 in their last 10 games as a road underdog, and they are 1-6 in their last seven games following a win. The Lightning are 5-1 in their last six in the second game of a home-and-home situation, and they are 37-15 in their last 52 home games. I'll take the home team in this revenge spot. GL, Jesse Schule |
11-27-21 | Sabres v. Red Wings -175 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 18 h 25 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Detroit. The Red Wing have lost four of their last five overall, but they are coming off a 4-2 home win over the Blues. They have won four of their last five on home ice, and they host the Sabres who will be playing on back to back nights. The Sabres are 13-45 in their last 58 games as a road underdog, and they are 16-43 in their last 59 overall. This is a good spot to back the home favorite. GL, Jesse Schule |
11-26-21 | Seattle Kraken v. Lightning -172 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 21 h 13 m | Show
This is a 5* play on TB. The Lightning are the defending Stanley Cup champions, and they have been the best team in the NHL for roughly a decade. Tonight they host an expansion team that is looking for just it's second road win (ever). Seattle has lost seven of eight on the road, but the Kraken are coming off back to back home wins over Carolina and Washington. They should be a 3-1 underdog here on the road in a game that is as big a mismatch as we see in the NHL, and the fact that they aren't is likely a result of recency bias. GL, Jesse Schule |
11-19-21 | Avalanche -150 v. Seattle Kraken | 7-3 | Win | 100 | 23 h 22 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Colorado. The Avs are off to a slow start, considering they are the favorite to win the Stanley Cup. They are a favorite on the road at Seattle Friday, but this line should be much higher. Colorado could be a 2-1 favorite against an expansion team that has lost seven of it's last eight overall. The Kraken have struggled as you would expect, ranking near the bottom of the league in goals against, as well as on special teams. Bettors continue to back Seattle, perhaps looking for the same magic we saw when the Golden Knights came into the league a few years ago. This is a free play on the Chicago Blackhawks. |

11-01-21 | Capitals v. Lightning -135 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 22 m | Show
This is a 5* play on TB. The defending champs lost four of their first six games of the season, call it a Stanley Cup hangover. They have since won back to back games by a combined score of 10-2. We get a good price to back the Bolts at home versus Washington here tonight, and the Caps have yet to lose in regulation. The Lightning are 52-22 in their last 74 home games. The Capitals have lost five of their last six as an underdog. This looks like a great spot to go against the Caps. GL, Jesse Schule |

10-28-21 | Bruins v. Hurricanes -125 | 0-3 | Win | 100 | 19 h 9 m | Show
This is an 8* play on Carolina. The undefeated Carolina Hurricanes will host the Boston Bruins tonight, and this is a tough spot for Boston on the road in the second game of a back to back. Linus Ullmark allowed four goals on 26 shots while suffering his first loss of the season at Florida last night. He could get a break here tonight, allowing Jeremy Swayman to make his third start of the season. He was lit up in a loss to Philly in his last start, allowing five goals on 24 shots. The Bruins are 1-5 in their last six games as an underdog, and the Hurricanes are 11-4 in their last 15 home games. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-24-21 | Predators v. Wild -155 | 5-2 | Loss | -155 | 21 h 14 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Minnesota. Both these teams are playing their second game of a back to back, but Minnesota is coming off a home win over Anaheim, while Nashville played north of the border in Winnipeg. The international travel would put the Predators at a significant disadvantage here in an already tough road game. The Predators are 1-6 in their last seven overall, and they are 0-6 in their last six games as a road underdog. The Wild are 22-6 in their last 28 home games, and they have won four of their last five coming off a win. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-23-21 | Predators v. Jets -125 | 4-6 | Win | 100 | 20 h 30 m | Show
This is an 8* play on the Jets. After losing three straight to start the season, the Jets won big at home versus the Anaheim Ducks by a score of 5-1 in their last game. I expect the positive momentum to carry over here as they host Nashville. The Predators also come in with a record of 1-3, but they are coming off a home loss to the New York Rangers. The Predators are 0-5 in their last five games as a road underdog, and the Jets are 5-1 in their last six games following a win. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-22-21 | Oilers v. Golden Knights -130 | 5-3 | Loss | -130 | 24 h 54 m | Show
This is an 8* play on VGK. The Oilers are off to a perfect 4-0 start, but they are due for a let down here on the road in the second game of a back to back. They face a hungry Vegas team that is coming off back to back losses. The Golden Knights are 43-17 in their last 60 home games, and they are 4-1 in their last five home games against the Oilers. Edmonton's starting netminder Mike Smith is on the IR, and that puts pressure on Mikko Koskinen who will likely get the call for the second night in a row. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-21-21 | Ducks v. Jets -175 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 23 m | Show
This is a 5* play on the Jets. The Ducks have started the season hot, while the Jets have been ice cold. This is exactly the opposite of what was projected for these two teams. The Ducks finished dead last in the West Division last year, and they didn't really make any significant roster moves. This looks like a tough spot for an overachieving Anaheim squad. The Ducks are 15-36 in their last 51 games as an underdog, and they are 0-5 in their last five games in Winnipeg. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-19-21 | Sharks v. Canadiens -145 | 5-0 | Loss | -145 | 17 h 34 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Montreal. The Habs went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals last year, but they are 0-3 to start the season. A home game against the San Jose Sharks should give them a chance to get back on track. This will be the Sharks first game since announcing a 29 game suspension for Evander Kane. The Sharks have lost six straight on the road, and they are 4-14 in their last 18 overall. The home team is 15-6 in the last 21 meetings. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-18-21 | Ducks v. Flames -183 | 3-2 | Loss | -183 | 30 h 23 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Calgary. The Ducks are 1-1 after playing their first two games of rthe season at home, now they head out on the road where they will play Calgary on Monday. Anaheim finished dead last in the West last year, and this is basically the same group of players. The Ducks are 1-4 in the last five meetings in Calgary, and the home team is 59-21 in the last 80 meetings. The price isn't cheap, but this is a good spot to back the home favorite. GL, Jesse Schule |

10-16-21 | Jets -123 v. Sharks | 3-4 | Loss | -123 | 32 h 37 m | Show
This is an 8* play on WPG. The Jets lost their season opener on the road at The Duck Pond, and they will be a favorite tonight at the Shark Tank. Having already played a game could be an advantage here against the Sharks in their season opener. The Jets are 7-3 in their last 10 games playing on 2 days rest, and they are 4-0 in the last four meetings in San Jose. The Sharks are 17-35 in their last 52 games as an underdog, and they are 3-14 in their last 17 overall. They have lost four of their last five home games. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-16-21 | Rangers v. Canadiens -106 | 3-1 | Loss | -106 | 29 h 38 m | Show
This is an 8* play on MTL. The Habs turned in an impressive effort in a 2-1 loss at Toronto to start the season, but their second game at Buffalo was not as competitive. It's still early in the season, but the Habs should be desperate to avoid a third straight loss when they take on New York tonight. The Rangers are 8-17 in the last 25 meetings in Montreal. The Canadiens are 6-2 in their last eight home games, and they are 10-4 in their last 14 games playing on 1 days rest. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-14-21 | Canadiens -130 v. Sabres | 1-5 | Loss | -130 | 19 h 33 m | Show
This is an 8* play on MTL. The Habs lost last night in Toronto, but they turned in an incredible effort. They came out flying, scoring the game's first goal. They had a slight edge in shots on goal, and they had a 34-12 edge in total hits. Normally playing the second game of a back to back is a disadvantage, but this early in the season it's not a bad thing to have a game under their belt. They will face a Sabres team that might be the worst in the NHL. The Sabres are 8-20 in their last 28 home games, and they are 7-20 in their last 27 games as a home underdog. GL, Jesse Schule |
10-13-21 | Canadiens v. Maple Leafs -170 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 25 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Toronto. The Maple Leafs are under a microscope this season, and nothing less than a Stanley Cup will satisfy their fan base, the media and the organization. They looked like a legitimate contender last year, but an early exit from the playoffs at the hands of rivals Montreal was a bitter pill to swallow. They have an opportunity to exorcise their demons here in a massive revenge game in their season opener. This won't be the same Montreal team that they faced in the playoffs. Carey Price and Shea Weber won't be in the lineup when the Habs take the ice in Toronto. These teams met three times in the pre-season, and the Leafs won two of those three games. The favorite is 26-12 in the last 38 meetings. GL, Jesse Schule |

07-05-21 | Lightning v. Canadiens +149 | 2-3 | Win | 149 | 18 h 12 m | Show
This is a 5* play on Montreal. After watching the first three games of this series, it seems pretty clear that Tampa is the better team. Then again, they probably said that about the San Jose Sharks when they had a 3-0 series lead versus LA in the first round in 2014. The Kings went on to beat the Sharks and win the Stanley Cup that year. While that was the last time we saw a team come back from a 3-0 series deficit, you have to go even further back to find the last time a team was swept in the Stanley Cup Finals. The last team to win 4-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals was Detroit in 1998. I'm not ready to call for another epic comeback, but I do think that the Habs are more than capable of extending this series and forcing it back to Tampa for Game 5. GL, Jesse Schule |
