02-18-23 | Rangers v. Flames -135 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 16 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Rangers are having a great season but I like the Flames to step up on their home ice and control this game. The Flames, who average 3.15 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Elias Lindholm, Tyler Toffoli, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Flames should limit the Rangers' offense with Rasmus Andersson, Noah Hanifin, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Jacob Markstrom to make plenty of big saves. The Flames should win the game with a much-needed bounce-back performance on their home ice. Take the Flames money line as home Favorites. |
02-18-23 | Capitals v. Hurricanes -194 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 18 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Capitals look to snap their losing streak but the Hurricanes look like one of the best teams in the league and with nine wins in their last 10 games look to control this game from the first period. The Hurricanes, who average 3.35 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Martin Necas, Andrei Svechnikov, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement and quick cross-ice passes. The Hurricanes, who allow only 2.67 goals per game, should limit the Capitals' offense with Brady Skjei, Brett Pesce, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Frederik Andersen to make plenty of easy saves. The Hurricanes should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on their home ice. |
02-18-23 | Islanders v. Bruins -240 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 4 h 20 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins have won three of their last four games and three of their last four home games. They have played well offensively, scoring 14 goals in their last four games. They’ve also played well on special teams, converting over 24 percent of their power play opportunities. The Islanders have done well when it comes to killing penalties, but they haven’t been able to slow anyone down in recent games, giving up at least four goals in three of their last four games. They are also playing on consecutive nights and will be dealing with some fatigue, so expect them to have a hard time slowing down the Bruins in this game. The Islanders have lost three of their last four games and six of their last seven road games. Despite their slump, they continue to play well offensively, scoring 10 goals in their last three games. They have struggled on special teams, converting only 17 percent of their power play opportunities. Unfortunately for them, the Bruins have done a great job killing penalties and they don’t give up a lot of goals, holding opponents to six goals in their last four games, so expect them to keep New York’s offense in check. |
02-15-23 | Rangers -189 v. Canucks | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 5 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The New York Rangers blue line and goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin will shut down the high-scoring Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday. New York is holding opponents to an average of only 2.62 goals per game. New York scores an average of 3.32 goals per game and added power to its attack when acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko from the St Louis Blues. Tarasheko has scored one goal in two appearances for the Rangers, but has six seasons in the NHL with 30 goals or more. The Rangers have won 20 of their last 27 overall and beat up on weaker opponents, winning 41 in the last 58 versus a team with a losing record. Vancouver is allowing an average of 4.02 goals per game which is next to last in hockey. The Canucks have lost six of the last seven against the team with a winning record. |
02-14-23 | Bruins -115 v. Stars | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 59 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins looked rusty and a bit flat in their first game back after a long layoff. They now face a Dallas team that is coming off a loss themselves and won they beat 3-1 at home way back in October. Dallas won't run and hide from the Bruins with the league's 12th ranked scoring offense but they will defend and keep the game tight. Dallas has scored more than two goals just once in its last six games. Boston has scored 30 goals in its last seven wins. Expect the B's to pull out a close win by pumping in at least three goals on the Stars, which will be enough. |
02-14-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Jets -140 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Jets, who average 3.21 goals per game, should pile on the goals against a Kraken defense that allows 3.11 goals per game, with Kyle Connor, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with effective puck movement while Josh Morrissey generates shots on the net from the blue line. The Jets, who allow only 2.60 goals per game, should limit the Kraken offense with Josh Morrissey, Brenden Dillon, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to make plenty of big saves. The Kraken should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice to extend their win streak to three games. |
02-14-23 | Senators v. Islanders -177 | 3-2 | Loss | -177 | 8 h 4 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators are going to be dealing with fatigue issues with this game being the second game of a back-to-back situation and their third game in four nights here. They have issues in net with Talbot being out for the last three weeks and Forsberg being done for the year, leaving unproven commodities between the pipes. Sorokin, if he played on a team that had any kind of competent offensive firepower, would probably be a Vezina candidate based on his numbers. Instead, he’s a .500 goaltender despite a 2.41 GAA and six shutouts this season. New York needs to string some wins together to make a move in the playoff picture and facing a tired Senators team works in their favor. Look for Sorokin to slam the door and deliver a victory for the hosts in this contest. |
02-13-23 | Red Wings v. Canucks -115 | 6-1 | Loss | -115 | 12 h 21 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Red Wings are looking to build off their recent win and sweep the season series but the Canucks look to bounce back on their home ice and control this game. The Canucks, who average 3.34 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Canucks should limit the Red Wings' offense with Quinn Hughes, Luke Schenn, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Spencer Martin to make plenty of big saves. The Canucks should win the game with a much-needed bounce-back performance on their home ice. |
02-13-23 | Coyotes v. Predators -241 | 4-2 | Loss | -241 | 10 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Arizona is the 3rd worst road team in the NHL so far this season, going 6-20-6 away from home thus far, currently riding an 18-game skid on its travels, with eight of those defeats coming by a margin of at least two snipes. In fact, a whopping 11 of the previous 16 overall setbacks of the Coyotes have been by more than one marker, with three of their most recent four losses to the Predators also recording a goal-gap of at least two tallies. The Predators, who have notched six victories in their last eight overall outings, meanwhile, have triumphed by more than one goal in seven of their past 12 wins. |
02-12-23 | Sharks v. Capitals -180 | 4-1 | Loss | -180 | 4 h 17 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Capitals should find the back of the net at will against the Sharks, who allow 3.74 goals per game, with Alexander Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Capitals, who allow only 2.83 goals per game, should limit the Sharks' offense with Erik Gustafsson, Nick Jensen, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Charlie Lindgren to make plenty of big saves. The Capitals should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on their home ice. |
02-11-23 | Coyotes v. Blues -190 | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 11 h 47 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Coyotes have won three of their last five games, but they’ve been terrible on the road, losing their last 16 road games. They have struggled offensively on the road, scoring only five goals in their last five road games. They have also struggled on special teams, converting on 18 percent of their power play opportunities. The Blues aren’t great defensively, but they played better in recent games, giving up 13 goals in their last four home games, and won’t have trouble keeping Arizona’s offense in check. The Blues have struggled in recent games and split their last four home games. They are playing well offensively, scoring 11 goals in their last three home games. They have also played well on special teams, converting over 22 percent of their power play opportunities. The Coyotes aren’t very good at killing penalties and they’re giving up close to four games per game on the road. They are also playing on consecutive nights and will be dealing with fatigue, so expect them to have a hard time slowing down the Blues in this game. |
02-11-23 | Capitals v. Bruins -183 | 2-1 | Loss | -183 | 6 h 20 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins come into this matchup rested and ready to go. They suffered through the briefest of winless streaks, failing to pick up a win in three straight games prior to the all-star break. The Bruins now will look to further distance themselves from the rest of the pack in the Eastern Conference and will have the benefit of all-star goalie Linus Ullmark taking the net with a week's worth of rest. The Bruins have the edge in every category in this matchup, including health as the Capitals will likely be missing two wings in this game. Look for the Bruins to pick up where they left off in their first game back. |
02-11-23 | Islanders -200 v. Canadiens | 3-4 | Loss | -200 | 3 h 22 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The New York Islanders are not having the best of seasons, but are tied on points for the 8th and final spot in the Eastern Conference and have plenty of incentive to win on Saturday. In contrast, Montreal is next to last in the Eastern Conference standings as many players are on the injury list and are out for extended periods or for the rest of the season. Montreal has lost 45 of its last 62 when playing against the team with a losing record. The visiting team (NYI) in this matchup has won four of the last five. New York has won four of its last five overall and will be in much better playing shape as they have played twice since the All-Star Game break, while Montreal will be playing its first game in 11 days. New York goalie Ilya Sorokin has posted five shutouts this season and faces a Montreal side that is scoring an average of only 2.55 goals per game. |
02-11-23 | Canucks v. Red Wings -130 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 3 h 55 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canucks look to pull off the upset but the Red Wings look to build off a big win and control this game from the first period. The Red Wings should create plenty of scoring chances against a Canucks defense that allows 3.96 goals per game with Dylan Larkin, Dominik Kubalik, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Red Wings look to build off a game where they allowed only one goal and limit the Canucks offense with Filip Hronek, Jake Walman, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Ville Husso to make plenty of big saves. The Red Wings should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
02-10-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Rangers -178 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 9 h 29 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Kraken look to wrap up their road trip on a high note but the Rangers, who have won three games in a row, look to dominate this game on their home ice. The Rangers, who average 3.22 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Rangers, who allow only 2.63 goals per game, should limit the Kraken offense with Adam Fox, Ryan Lindgren, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Igor Shesterkin to make plenty of big saves. The Rangers should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice to win their fourth game in a row. |
02-09-23 | Oilers -185 v. Flyers | 1-2 | Loss | -185 | 7 h 7 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units As well as the Oilers have performed on the road lately, the Flyers have done the opposite when skating on own ice. Philadelphia is currently riding a four-game losing skid at Wells Fargo Center, having been beaten by more than one marker in half those contests. Edmonton, on the other hand, has triumphed in five consecutive matchups away from home, posting victories by a margin of at least two snipes on four occasions. In fact, seven of the previous nine road wins of the Oilers have recorded a goal-gap of at least two tallies, while the very last six setbacks of the Flyers against Edmonton have all been by more than one goal. |
02-08-23 | Wild v. Stars -131 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 13 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The very last four overall contests of Dallas, two of the previous three outings of Minnesota and the most recent two trips of the Wild to American Airlines Center have all gone past regulation. So, a draw on a 3-way moneyline (+335) is the most obvious choice here! Still, do also consider backing the home team in this one! Despite the visitors dominating this series of late, triumphing on the very last four occasions (two wins apiece for each side), the Stars have still notched 30 victories in their previous 41 head-to-head matchups against Minnesota in Texas. Dallas has also performed well versus opponents from the Central Division, banking four wins on the last five tries. The Wild, meanwhile, have dropped six of their most recent eight road contests, currently riding a four-game losing skid on their travels. |
02-07-23 | Oilers -155 v. Red Wings | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 22 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Red Winn look to win on their home ice but the Oilers are looking to build off a strong first half of the season and control this game from the first period. The Oilers, who average 3.74 goals per game, should create plenty of scoring chances with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes near the net. The Oilers should also limit the Red Wings' offense, which was shut out in their previous game, with Darnell Nurse, Cody Ceci, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Stuart Skinner to make plenty of big saves. The Oilers should win the game with a dominant performance on the road. |
02-06-23 | Canucks v. Devils -240 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 11 h 38 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canucks are looking to turn around their season but the Devils are having a great season and look to dominate this game from the opening puck drop. The Devils, who average 3.47 goals per game, should create plenty of scoring chances against a Canucks defense that allows 3.92 goals per game, with Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes near the net. The Devils, who allow only 2.65 goals per game, should limit the Canucks offense with Dougie Hamilton, Ryan Graves, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Vitek Vanecek to make plenty of big saves. The Devils should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on their home ice. |
02-06-23 | Lightning -117 v. Panthers | 1-7 | Loss | -117 | 10 h 11 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Even though the recent road escapades of Tampa Bay have not brought in too many reasons for celebration, as the team has managed to muster just four victories on its past 10 trips, a game away at the Panthers is more than likely to extend the current win run of the Lightning to four fixtures. Despite a decent domestic form, which has seen Florida win four of its previous five home outings, the Cats have still dropped three of their last four matchups overall. They are a disappointing 1-5 in their most recent six Monday contests and have been beaten by opponents with a winning percentage above the .600 mark on five of the past seven occasions, losing to the Bolts in their previous four head-to-head encounters in Sunrise. |
02-01-23 | Bruins -128 v. Maple Leafs | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 43 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units This is going to be a great game between two of the best teams in the NHL. The Maple Leafs look to win on their home ice but the Bruins look to bounce back from three rough losses and control this game. The Bruins should create plenty of scoring chances with David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Bruins, who allow only 2.12 goals per game, should limit the Maple Leafs' offense with Hampus Lindholm, Brandon Carlo, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Linus Ullmark to make plenty of big saves. The Bruins should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-31-23 | Kings v. Hurricanes -200 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 43 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Los Angeles has done extremely well lately. Especially on the road, where the team from the City of Angels has bagged five victories on the last seven occasions. The recent record of the Kings against Carolina, though, is a completely different story. L.A. has dropped its past six overall decisions against the Hurricanes, losing by more than one goal in five of those games. The team has also failed to win any of its previous four trips to Raleigh, being beaten by a margin of at least two markers on each occasion, outscored 20-5. The most recent six losses of the Kings overall have also recorded a goal-gap of at least two strikes, while six of the past 10 triumphs of the ‘Canes have all been by more than one tally. |
01-31-23 | Senators -175 v. Canadiens | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 40 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Senators are on a three-game win streak and look to control this game from the first period. The Senators look to build off a five-goal game and find the back of the net at will against a Canadiens defense that is allowing 3.68 goals per game with Brady Tkachuk, Claude Giroux, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with effective puck movement. The Senators should limit a Canadiens offense that is averaging only 2.52 goals per game with Thomas Chabot, Jake Sanderson, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Anton Forsberg to make plenty of big saves. The Senators should win the game to sweep the home-and-home series and extend their winning streak to four games. |
01-28-23 | Flyers v. Jets -210 | 4-0 | Loss | -210 | 10 h 56 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Jets should find the back of the net at will against the Flyers, who allow 3.22 goals per game, with Kyle Connor, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Jets' defense, which is allowing only 2.62 goals per game, should limit the Flyers' offense, which averages only 2.76 goals per game, with Josh Morrissey, Dylan DeMelo, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to make plenty of big saves. The Jets should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on their home ice. |
01-28-23 | Kings v. Lightning -195 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 53 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Lightning, who have won back-to-back games, look to control this game from the first period. The Lightning, who average 3.60 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement and strong centering passes. The Lightning, who allow only 2.94 goals per game, should limit the Kings' offense with Victor Hedman, Mikhail Sergachev, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shooting lanes, allowing goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy to make plenty of big saves. The Lightning should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on their home ice to win their third consecutive game. |
01-28-23 | Bruins -148 v. Panthers | 3-4 | Loss | -148 | 9 h 0 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units With the Panthers currently riding a three-game losing skid, playing with no rest (0-6 in their last six contests without a breather) and likely forced to dress third string netminder Alex Lyon for a consecutive start during a back-to-back set (he has lost his only previous appearance versus Boston), expect the Bruins to run riot tonight! The B’s have already won four of their past five matchups against Florida, beating the Cats by a margin of at least two snipes in three of those games. Eight of the previous nine overall victories of Boston have all also been achieved by more than one marker, while a whopping 13 of Florida’s last 16 setbacks have all been registered with a goal-gap of at least two strikes. |
01-27-23 | Flames v. Seattle Kraken -110 | 5-2 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 9 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Back in November, Seattle beat Calgary 5-4 as a +195 road underdog, while the Flames responded with a 3-2 victory as -115 road favorites in December. I’m looking for another tight battle between these two divisional foes. Calgary is arguably a better defensive team than Seattle, but I would lean on the Kraken’s prolific offense to make a difference. The Flames will have to deal with fatigue on the second night of a back-to-back. On the other side, the Kraken will be fired up to pick up where they left off. Seattle destroyed Vancouver last Wednesday, and just a week ago, the Kraken beat New Jersey 4-3 in overtime. |
01-27-23 | Senators v. Maple Leafs -195 | 6-2 | Loss | -195 | 8 h 13 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators have followed up a victory with a defeat on four of the past five occasions, losing by a margin of at least two strikes in each of those setbacks. So, a similar outcome in their upcoming clash at the Maple Leafs on Friday most definitely holds a great plausibility! A whopping 18 of Ottawa’s 26 losses this season have already been registered with a goal-gap of at least two markers. Toronto, meanwhile, has won by more than one tally in five of its previous eight victories and is riding a four-game triumph run against the Sens, beating them by a margin of at least two strikes in two of those matchups. |
01-26-23 | Devils -123 v. Predators | 4-6 | Loss | -123 | 11 h 53 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Predators look to win on their home ice but the Devils are having a great season and look to control this game from the first period. The Devils, who average 3.47 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Devils, who allow only 2.60 goals per game, should limit the Predators' offense with Dougie Hamilton, Ryan Graves, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Vitek Vanecek to make plenty of big saves. The Devils should win the game with a strong performance on the road to win their third game in a row. |
01-26-23 | Penguins +106 v. Capitals | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 55 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Capitals look to win on their home ice but the Penguins look to step up and control this game. The Penguins, who average 3.28 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Penguins should also limit the Capitals' offense with Marcus Pettersson, Brian Dumoulin, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shooting lanes, allowing goaltender Tristan Jarry to make plenty of big saves. The Penguins should win the game with a strong performance on the road. |
01-25-23 | Canucks v. Seattle Kraken -160 | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 9 h 43 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units This seems a perfect spot for the Kraken to finally get one over the Canucks. Vancouver will have to deal with fatigue on the second night of a back-to-back, while Seattle had three days to rest and prepare for Wednesday’s clash. The Kraken have struggled a bit to score in their last few games, and the matchup against the Canucks’ leaky defense is a perfect opportunity for redemption. Seattle might miss Andre Burakovsky (G13, A25), but the Kraken have plenty of dangerous weapons in their arsenal, so I’m going with the hosts to win. |
01-25-23 | Hurricanes -106 v. Stars | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 15 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Stars look to win on their home ice but the Hurricanes look to control this game from the first period. The Hurricanes, who average 3.22 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great cross-ice passes. The Hurricanes, who allow only 2.65 goals per game, should also limit the Stars' offense with Brady Skjei, Brett Pesce, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Frederik Andersen to make plenty of big saves. The Hurricanes should win the game with a strong performance on the road. |
01-25-23 | Islanders v. Senators -125 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 15 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Islanders are looking to pull off the upset but the Senators look to step up at home and control this game. The Senators should create plenty of scoring chances with Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stützle, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Senators should also limit an Islanders offense that averages only 2.92 goals per game with Jake Sanderson and Thomas Chabot creating turnovers at the blue line and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Cam Talbot to make plenty of big saves. The Senators should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-24-23 | Sabres v. Blues -126 | 5-3 | Loss | -126 | 11 h 7 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units |
01-24-23 | Panthers v. Penguins -140 | 6-7 | Win | 100 | 10 h 12 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Panthers look to pull off the upset on the road but the Penguins look to step up and control this game. The Penguins, who average 3.20 goals per game, should pile on the goals with Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots on the net with great puck movement. The Penguins should also limit the Panthers' offense with Marcus Pettersson, Jeff Petry, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Tristan Jarry to make plenty of big saves. The Penguins should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-24-23 | Sharks v. Red Wings -140 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 10 h 7 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Sharks are looking to pull off the upset but I like the Red Wings to step up and control this game on their home ice. The Red Wings should find the back of the net at will against a Sharks defense that allows 3.73 goals per game with Dylan Larkin, Dominik Kubalik, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Red Wings should also limit the Shares offense with Filip Hronek, Jake Walman, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shooting lanes, allowing goaltender Ville Husso to make plenty of big saves. The Red Wings should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-24-23 | Wild v. Lightning -163 | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 2 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both teams have struggled in their last couple of games as the opposing teams have put up plenty of goals. The Wild has sputtered a bit on the road and they looked overmatched against the Panthers Saturday night. Minnesota will have Fleury back between the pipes but it’s tough to get excited about facing the Lightning at the Amalie Arena, especially when it’s Vasilevskiy between the pipes. In his career, Vasilevskiy is a sparkling 143-46-14 with a 2.46 GAA, a .919 save % and 14 shutouts in 209 career games at the Amalie Arena. Tampa Bay is a stellar 17-4-1 at home this season and the Lightning get the upper hand in this one as the Wild continue to struggle defensively. |

01-23-23 | Islanders v. Maple Leafs -220 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 56 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Islanders are eager to turn their season around and look to pull off the upset but the Maple Leafs are having a great season and look to control this game from the first period. The Maple Leafs, who average 3.36 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with effective puck movement. The Maple Leafs, who allow only 2.64 goals per game, should limit an Islanders offense that is scoring only 2.94 goals per game, with Mark Giordano, Justin Holl, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Ilya Samsonov to make plenty of big saves. The Maple Leafs should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on their home ice. |
01-23-23 | Panthers v. Rangers -125 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 10 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Panthers look to win on the road but the Rangers look to build off a strong season and control this game from the opening puck drop. The Rangers, who average 3.11 goals per game, should pile on the goals against a Panthers defense that allows 3.38 goals per game, with Mika Zibanejad, Artemi Panarin, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement while defenseman Adam Fox generates shots on the net from the blue line. The Rangers, who allow only 2.63 goals per game, should limit the Panthers' offense with Adam Fox, Ryan Lindgren, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Igor Shesterkin to make plenty of big saves. The Rangers should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-22-23 | Jets v. Flyers +145 | 5-3 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 27 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Philadelphia Flyers will look for their 10th win in 13 games when they host the Winnipeg Jets tonight. The Flyers posted a hard-earned, 2-1 road victory against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday thanks in large part to 30 saves from goaltender Carter Hart. Philadelphia also played gritty defense and blocked 31 shots, eight from Ivan Provorov. More than once, Provorov went sprawling to the ice to block a shot. Scott Laughton and Noah Cates each scored one goal, and Hart preserved the victory with a scintillating pad save in the final few seconds against Lucas Raymond. Consider that the Jets are 8-23-1 in the last 32 meetings in Philadelphia.. |
01-22-23 | Penguins v. Devils -138 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 34 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Devils have won five of their last six games. They are playing very well offensively, scoring at least four goals in eight of their last 10 games. They’ve also played well on special teams, converting over 20 percent of their power play opportunities. The Penguins have done a good job killing penalties, but they aren’t very good defensively, giving up 15 goals in their last five road games, so expect them to have a hard time slowing down the Devils in this game. The Penguins have won four of their last seven games, but they’ve lost six of their last seven road games. They have struggled offensively on the road, scoring only 12 goals in their last five road games. The Devils are great at killing penalties and they play well defensively at home, holding opponents under three goals per game, so expect them to keep Pittsburgh’s offense in check. Go with New Jersey to cover the money line. |
01-21-23 | Kings v. Predators -113 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 11 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Even though the Kings are currently riding a two-game winning run against the Predators, and Nashville has failed to win any of its past five outings contested on Saturdays, do back the home team in this one! While sitting 3rd in the Pacific Division, Los Angeles has still been pretty inconsistent lately, splitting both its most recent eight matchups overall, as well as its very last eight fixtures on the road. The Preds, meanwhile, have triumphed in three of their past four domestic outings and, most importantly, have already beaten the Kings in nine of their previous 12 meetings, notching four victories in their last five head-to-head encounters at Bridgestone Arena. |
01-21-23 | Blackhawks v. Blues -221 | 5-3 | Loss | -221 | 10 h 8 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Chicago has won two straight and four out of the last five but will play on the road against a St Louis Blues’ team that has also won two straight and four out of the last six. Chicago sits last in the Western Conference, while St Louis is 10th but only two points behind the eighth and final playoff spot currently held by Calgary as the season closes in on its final ⅓. St Louis goalie Jordan Binnington has won each of his last two starts and has allowed an average of just 1.50 goals per game over that stretch. Chicago is next to last in scoring, as the Blackhawks are averaging only 2.37 goals per game and are allowing 3.63 goals per game. Chicago has lost 43 of its last 60 overall and 43 of its last 62 played on the road. St Louis has four of its last five against a team from the Central Division. |
01-21-23 | Wild v. Panthers -105 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 15 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Instead of Marc-Andre Fleury and Bobrovsky in net here, we get Gustavsson and Lyon between the pipes. While Florida has played better of late, the fact remains that their goaltending continues to be suspect, forcing them into high-scoring affairs if they want to put a game in the win column. The Panthers do have home-ice going for them here as they are 11-6-3 as the home team on the year. Minnesota put up a dud in their showing against the Hurricanes and it is tough to have faith in them after what we saw in Thursday’s beatdown. Lyon doesn’t have a lengthy track record but if Florida’s offense is clicking, they should be able to skate away with a home win here. |
01-20-23 | Avalanche v. Canucks +140 | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 13 h 59 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canucks are +145 underdogs against the Avalanche. With those odds, though, it is definitely worth the gamble to back Vancouver. It might seem unreal, but the ‘Nucks are actually riding a three-game winning streak versus Colorado, having beaten the team from Denver by more than one snipe in two of those games. The Canucks have also snatched 15 victories in their last 21 domestic encounters against the Avs, who have managed to triumph in just two of their previous five road assignments, banking seven defeats in their most recent 11 fixtures overall. |
01-20-23 | Senators v. Penguins -142 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 10 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators won the recent game in overtime but the Penguins look to step up on their home ice and even up the score from the recent game. The Penguins should pile on the goals against the Senators, who have allowed 3.25 goals per game, with Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Penguins also look to limit the Senators' offense that is scoring only 2.95 goals per game with Marcus Pettersson, Jan Rutta, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Casey DeSmith to make plenty of big saves. The Penguins should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-19-23 | Capitals -200 v. Coyotes | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 9 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Coyotes look to build off a recent win and pull off the upset on their home ice. However, the Capitals look to step up after a rough loss and control this game from the first period. The Capitals, who average 3.19 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will against a Coyotes defense that allows 3.61 goals per game, with Alexander Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with effective puck movement. The Capitals should also limit a Coyotes offense that averages only 2.66 goals per game with Nick Jensen, Dmitry Orlov, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Darcy Kuemper to make plenty of big saves. The Capitals should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on the road. |
01-19-23 | Jets v. Maple Leafs -160 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Jets look to pull off the upset on the road but the Maple Leafs look to build off a big win and control this game. The Maple Leafs, who average 3.38 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with quick passes. The Maple Leafs, who allow only 2.67 goals per game, should limit the Jets' offense with Morgan Rielly, Justin Holl, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Matt Murray to make plenty of big saves. The Maple Leafs should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-19-23 | Ducks v. Blue Jackets -162 | 5-3 | Loss | -162 | 8 h 37 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The only advantage in this matchup between two of the worst three teams in the NHL, is home ice advantage which goes to Columbus. The Anaheim Ducks will be playing the third game of a six-game road trip and have lost each of the first two on the trip as well as each of the last five overall. Anaheim is scoring the fewest goals in hockey at 2.27 goals per game and allowing the most goals at 4.18 goals per game. Anaheim has lost 12 of its last 14 played on the road. There have been very few bright spots this season for Columbus but one of them is the Blue Jackets have won four of the last five when playing against the team from the Pacific Division. |
01-18-23 | Lightning -165 v. Canucks | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 13 h 40 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Tampa Bay Lightning are playing much better at both ends of the ice then are Vancouver Canucks. Tampa Bay is scoring an average of 3.60 goals per game and allowing an average of just 2.88 goals per game, while Vancouver is allowing an average of 3.93 goals per game and scores an average of 3.40 goals per contest. Tampa Bay has won 21 of its last 28 overall and beats up on Western Conference opponents, winning 37 of the last 54. Tampa Bay has won each of the last five games head to head versus Vancouver and the Lightning have won seven of the last eight overall against the Canucks. Tampa Bay goalie Andre Vasilevskiy has 20 victories in 31 appearances between the pipes, a 2.45 goals against average and defeated the Canucks last Thursday |
01-18-23 | Stars -148 v. Sharks | 3-5 | Loss | -148 | 13 h 37 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Stars have triumphed in three of their previous four head-to-head matchups against the Sharks. And while only one of those victories has come by a margin of more than one snipe, do expect Dallas to dominate the proceedings on Wednesday! Three of the past four victories of the Stars in San Jose have already recorded a goal-gap of at least two markers, while four of the most recent five overall wins of the team from Texas have all been by more than one strike. Six of the the very last 10 setbacks of the Sharks, meanwhile, have all delivered the Men of Teal a loss by at least two goals. |
01-18-23 | Bruins -170 v. Islanders | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 13 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Islanders are looking to win on their home ice but the Bruins are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and look to control this game from the first period. The Bruins, who average 3.81 goals per game, should create plenty of scoring chances with David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Bruins, who allow only 2.12 goals per game, should limit the Islanders' offense with Hampus Lindholm, Charlie McAvoy, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Linus Ullmark to make plenty of big saves. The Bruins should win the game with a dominant win on the road. |
01-18-23 | Penguins -115 v. Senators | 4-5 | Loss | -115 | 10 h 45 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators look to win on their home ice but the Penguins look to find favorable matchups on both ends of the ice. The Penguins look to build off a four-goal game and find the back of the net at will against a Senators defense that allows 3.23 goals per game with Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with effective puck movement near the net. The Penguins should also limit a Senators offense that has only scored one goal in the last two games with Marcus Pettersson, Jan Rutta, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Casey DeSmith to make plenty of big saves. The Penguins should win the game with a dominant win on the road. |
01-17-23 | Blue Jackets v. Predators -193 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 25 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Blue Jackets are looking to turn around their season but the Predators look to step up on their home ice and dominate this game. The Predators should find the back of the net at will against a Blue Jackets defense that allows 3.95 goals per game with Filip Forsberg, Matt Duchene, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement while Roman Josi generates shots on the net from the blue line. The Predators should also limit the Blue Jackets' offense with Ryan McDonagh, Roman Josi, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Kevin Lankinen to make plenty of big saves. The Predators should win the game and cover the spread in a dominant win on their home ice. |
01-17-23 | Panthers v. Maple Leafs -168 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 45 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Toronto is tough at both ends of the ice, as the Maple Leafs are scoring an average of 3.34 (10th) goals per game and are allowing an average of just 2.61 (4th) goals per game. Toronto has received excellent goaltending from three goalies. No. 1 goalie Ilya Samsonov has a 2.33 goals against average, while Matt Murray has a solid 2.56 goals against average and Erik Kallgren, who has filled in when one of the other two have been injured, has a 2.67 goals against average. Florida has lost six of the last seven when playing against a team that has a winning record and on the road and the Panthers have lost five of the last seven overall. Florida will be playing its second straight game in as many nights on the road when facing Toronto. The Maple Leafs have won 13 of their last 18 games overall. |
01-17-23 | Ducks v. Flyers -193 | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 30 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Ducks look to pull off the upset but the Flyers look to bounce back from a rough loss and control this game from the first period. The Flyers should pile on the goals with Travis Konecny, Kevin Hayes, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with effective puck movement. The Flyers should also limit a Ducks offense that is scoring only 2.26 goals per game with Travis Sanheim, Ivan Provorov, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shooting lanes, allowing goaltender Samuel Ersson to make plenty of big saves. The Flyers should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice. |
01-17-23 | Jets -220 v. Canadiens | 1-4 | Loss | -220 | 7 h 31 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canadiens have won two of their last three games and look to win the upcoming game and provide great odds in the process. The problem is that the Jets look like one of the best teams in the league and look to control this game on both ends of the ice. The Jets, who average 3.34 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will against a Canadiens defense that allows 3.68 goals per game, with Kyle Connor, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Jets, who allow only 2.59 goals per game, should limit the Canadiens' offense with Josh Morrissey, Dylan DeMelo, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to make plenty of big saves. The Jets should win the game with a dominant performance on the road. |
01-16-23 | Senators v. Blues -103 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 8 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units St Louis has not played that well this season, but the Blues take advantage of opponents with a losing record, winning 20 of the last 29 in that situation. St Louis has also won nine of its last 12 when their opponent gave up five goals or more in the previous game. Ottawa has struggled when playing away from home as the Senators are 8-10-2 on the road this season. Ottawa has lost 43 of its last 64 when facing an opponent from the Central division. St Louis has won six of the last eight meetings overall against Ottawa. Ottawa is coming off a disappointing loss in which the Senators gave up seven goals to Colorado and Ottawa has been outscored over the last four games by a combined 21-7 and shut out twice during that stretch. St Louis is 2-2 over its last four and has been outscored just 11-10 over that period. |
01-16-23 | Devils -180 v. Sharks | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 2 h 10 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units We’ve seen New Jersey handle business on this road swing, dusting both Anaheim and Los Angeles by multiple goals in their last two games on the road. The Devils are a dangerous team on both ends of the ice as they are top five in both goals per game and goals against per game this season. San Jose has been brutal in their own end this season as they are fifth-worst in the league when it comes to stopping opposing teams from denting the twine this season. The Sharks are a below average team on the offensive end of the ice and they are a miserable 4-12-6 on home ice this season. New Jersey rolls to another road win here as they take care of business. |
01-16-23 | Red Wings v. Avalanche -185 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 2 h 50 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Red Wings look to win on the road but the Avalanche look to build off a dominant win and control this game from the first period. The Avalanche look to build off a seven-goal game and constantly find the back of the net with Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement to overwhelm a Red Wings defense that allows 3.34 goals per game. The Avalanche, who allow only 2.83 goals per game, should limit the Red Wings' offense with Cale Makar, Devon Toews, and the rest of the defensive unit crashing turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Alexandar Georgiev to make plenty of big saves. The Avalanche should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-14-23 | Penguins v. Hurricanes -190 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 31 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Penguins won their last two games, but they have struggled on the road, losing four of their last five road games. They struggled offensively during that stretch, scoring only 10 goals in their last five road games. Even though they play well on special teams, converting over 23 percent of their penalties. They won’t be able to take advantage of their chances in this game because the Hurricanes are very good at killing penalties and they don’t give up a lot of goals, especially at home where they have allowed only 10 goals in their last four games, so expect the Penguins to struggle offensively in this game. The Hurricanes struggled in recent games, but they have played well at home where they have won eight of their last 10 games. They’ve been on a roll offensively, scoring 12 goals in their last three games, and the Penguins aren’t playing well defensively, giving up 13 goals in their last four road games, so expect them to score a lot of goals in this game. Go with Carolina to cover the spread. |
01-14-23 | Maple Leafs v. Bruins -145 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 27 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units This is going to be a great game between two of the league's best teams. The Maple Leafs look to win on the road but the Bruins look to step up and control this game on both ends of the ice. The Bruins, who average 3.76 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Bruins, who allow only 2.15 goals per game, should limit the Maple Leafs' offense with Hampus Lindholm, Brandon Carlo, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting passing lanes to force direct shots on the net, allowing goaltender Linus Ullmark to make plenty of big saves. The Bruins should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
01-14-23 | Flames v. Stars -111 | 6-5 | Loss | -111 | 1 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Calgary Flames are playing the fourth game of a five-game road trek. They have only won eight of their 22 road games on the season. Dallas is stellar at home where they are 12-4-3 on the year. They will be eager to hit the ice after they allowed the Rangers to force overtime with one second remaining in the 3rd period in Thursday's loss. The Stars remember last year’s playoff. This is the first meeting between these rivals since last year’s opening round where the Flames eliminated Dallas in seven games. I expect the Stars to have extra motivation to win this one. Dallas continues to excel, posting a 6-2-1 record in their last nine games, and have won five out of their last six home bouts. |
01-10-23 | Panthers v. Avalanche -126 | 5-4 | Loss | -126 | 12 h 14 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Panthers have been inconsistent all season. They are 3-6 in the last nine games overall and 1-4 in the last five outings on the road. The Panthers own a lot of dangerous offensive weapons, but their defense is far away from an elite level. Also, the Panthers are tallying 11.9 penalty minutes per game, enough for the third-most in the NHL. On the other side, the Avs have defended well for most of the season, but they’ve yielded 25 goals over their last six outings. After holding the Oilers’ mighty offense to just two goals, the Avs will be fired up to stay on the right track, and their offense will have a nice opportunity to improve in a favorable matchup against Florida. Hereof, I’m going with the reigning champs, who have won 14 of their last 20 home games against the Eastern Conference. |
01-10-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Sabres -110 | 4-3 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 53 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Sabres have won eight of their last nine games and four of their last five home games. They have one of the best offenses in the league and they’re playing very well at the moment, scoring at least four goals in seven of their last nine games. They are also very good on special teams, converting 29 percent of their power play opportunities, and they’re facing a Seattle team that is one of the worst in the league at killing penalties and is giving up more than three goals per game, so expect them to play well offensively in this game. The Kraken have won four straight games, but they split their last six road games. They have played well offensively and play just as well on the road. They aren’t as good as the Sabres on special teams, converting 21 percent of their power play opportunities. The Sabres aren’t great defensively, but they’ve done a good job killing penalties and played good defense in recent home games, giving up eight goals in their last three home games, so expect them to keep Seattle’s offense in check. |
01-10-23 | Canucks v. Penguins -175 | 4-5 | Win | 100 | 10 h 50 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canucks have lost four of their last five games and three of their last four road games. They usually play well offensively, but they’re struggling at the moment, scoring 14 goals in their last five games. They have played well on special teams, converting over 24 percent of their power play opportunities. Unfortunately for them, the Penguins are great at killing penalties and they play well defensively at home, holding opponents under three goals per game, so expect them to keep Vancouver’s offense in check. The Penguins have also struggled in recent games, but they’ve played well at home where they have won six of their last nine games. They continue to play well offensively, scoring more than three goals per game at home. They have also played well on special teams, converting more than 20 percent of their power play opportunities. The Canucks are terrible at killing penalties and they have struggled defensively on the road, giving up more than 3.5 goals per game, so expect them to have a hard time slowing down the Penguins in this game. Go with Pittsburgh to cover the puck line. |
01-10-23 | Devils v. Hurricanes -145 | 5-3 | Loss | -145 | 10 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units This one, essentially, is a clash between the two best teams in the Metropolitan Division at the moment. The edge, though, firmly lies with the Hurricanes here! The Devils arguably carry the best road record in the whole league (14-2-1), but have been so inconsistent lately that they have failed to follow up a victory with another win on the past four occasions, going with just four triumphs in their previous 14 matchups overall. New Jersey has also failed to beat the ‘Canes in any of their last five head-to-head clashes, losing each of its most recent four trips to North Carolina. The Hurricanes, meanwhile, have posted a whopping 42 victories in their past 57 domestic outings, going 9-2 in their previous 11 games against teams from the Eastern Conference. |
01-09-23 | Flyers v. Sabres -200 | 4-0 | Loss | -200 | 8 h 9 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The rebuilding Philadelphia Flyers are far from a finished product. Following a promising four-game winning streak, their best since a 3-0-0 start, the Flyers were thumped 6-2 by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. There won't be much time to dwell on the loss as Philadelphia will travel to Western New York to face the host Buffalo Sabres today. Travis Konecny scored his team-leading 21st goal and Nicolas Deslauriers also scored against Toronto. Konecny has registered points in eight consecutive games and has scored at least one goal in a career-high six straight games. But there wasn't much positive news otherwise. Too many costly turnovers proved to be the difference in the frustrating loss. The Sabres will look for their third consecutive win when they battle the Flyers. After a 5-4 overtime victory over the Washington Capitals, the Sabres followed with a stirring 6-5 overtime win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. |
01-06-23 | Coyotes +110 v. Blackhawks | 0-2 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 33 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both teams have looked awful this season but I like the Coyotes to step up and control this game against a Blackhawks team that has lost their last five games. The Coyotes should find the back of the net at will against a Blackhawks defense that allows 3.76 goals per game with Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Coyotes should also eliminate a Blackhawks offense that has only scored five goals in their last five games with Jakob Chychrun, Shayne Gostisbehere, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Connor Ingram to make plenty of big saves. The Coyotes should win the game and provide great odds in the process as road Underdogs. |
01-06-23 | Predators v. Capitals -158 | 3-2 | Loss | -158 | 7 h 0 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Credit where credit’s due - the Predators have been going strong lately, posting a 5-1-2 record in their past eight contests after losing six matchups on the trot prior (0-4-2). They have, however, managed to win just three of their previous eight road outings and are a disappointing 2-7 in their most recent nine fixtures played without a breather. The Capitals, on the other hand, have already triumphed in seven of their last 10 domestic games and will be facing off against a Nashville team they have already beaten on the very last three occasions, outscoring it 12-4. |
01-03-23 | Seattle Kraken v. Oilers -150 | 5-2 | Loss | -150 | 12 h 55 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Oilers have had a torrid time while skating on own ice since mid-December, going with four consecutive defeats at Rogers Place. That trend, however, is bound to change sooner rather than later. Especially with the Oilers hosting a team that is yet to win a single contest in Edmonton. The Kraken have paid three previous visits to Rogers Place (one - during the last regular campaign, two - in pre-season), losing all of them with a combined score of 16-5. Seattle has also managed to beat the Oilers just once in their past four regular-season meetings and has recorded just a single victory in its previous five road outings. Edmonton, meanwhile, is a solid 5-0 in the most recent five fixtures after scoring no more than two strikes in its previous game. |

01-03-23 | Flames v. Jets +124 | 2-3 | Win | 124 | 9 h 4 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Connor Hellebuyck's value to the Winnipeg Jets has been obvious for years, but they received a huge reminder the past few weeks as they head into Tuesday's home game with the Calgary Flames on a bit of a roll. Amidst a difficult wave of injuries, the Jets struggled through half of December but finished the month with a pair of victories, the latest a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on New Year's Eve. In that outing, Hellebuyck -- who won the Vezina Trophy for the league's top goalie in the 2019-20 season -- sparkled while making 31 saves. The Jets were outshot 32-17, killed all five penalties and snapped the point-scoring streak of the league's leading scorer, Connor McDavid, at 17 games. Consider that the Flames are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Winnipeg. |
01-03-23 | Hurricanes -123 v. Rangers | 3-5 | Loss | -123 | 10 h 58 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Rangers are looking to win on their home ice the Hurricanes, who have won 11 games in a row, look to control this game from the first period. The Hurricanes, who have scored nine goals in the last two games, should pile on the goals with Sebastian Aho, Martin Necas, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Hurricanes, who allow only 2.54 goals per game, should also limit the Rangers' offense with Brady Skjei, Brett Pesce, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov to make plenty of big saves. The Hurricanes should win the game with a strong performance on the road to win their 12th game in a row. |
01-03-23 | Sabres v. Capitals -155 | 5-4 | Loss | -155 | 8 h 24 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units After rolling through the month of December, the Washington Capitals will try to keep it going in January when they host the Buffalo Sabres. The Capitals closed out 2022 with a 9-2 throttling of the Montreal Canadiens on New Year's Eve, finishing the month with an 11-2-2 record in 15 games. Conor Sheary is one of those players who have stepped up. His 11 goals are second on the team after Alex Ovechkin (26), while his 26 points rank fourth among all Capitals. Sheary finished December with 15 points (four goals, 11 assists), third-most for the month on the team behind Ovechkin (22) and Evgeny Kuznetsov (17). Consider that the Sabres are 25-60 in their last 85 vs. a team with a winning record. |
01-02-23 | Penguins v. Bruins -165 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 5 h 29 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Penguins look to pull off the upset but the Bruins have looked phenomenal this year and look to step up and control this game. The Bruins, who average 3.78 goals per game, should pile on the goals with David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement and strong centering passes. The Bruins, who allow only 2.19 goals per game, should also limit the Penguins' offense with Hampus Lindholm, Connor Clifton, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Linus Ullmark to make plenty of big saves. The Bruins should win the game with a remarkable performance at Fenway Park. |
12-30-22 | Devils v. Penguins -110 | 4-2 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 48 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Devils look to snap out of their slump but the Penguins look to bounce back on their home ice and control this game. The Penguins look to build off a four-goal game and pile on the goals with Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Penguins should also limit a Devils offense that has only scored four goals in their last two games with Marcus Pettersson, Pierre-Oliver Joseph, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers at the blue line and limiting shots on the net while goaltender Tristan Jarry steps up and blanks the shots on the net. The Penguins should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
12-29-22 | Stars +108 v. Wild | 4-1 | Win | 108 | 7 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Dallas is playing well above average at both ends of the ice as the Stars are fifth in scoring at 10th in goals-against. Dallas has the 5th best power play and the Stars have the fourth-best penalty-kill unit. Dallas is also third-best in faceoffs, winning 55.2% of the time. Dallas has won five of its last 7 overall and the Stars have won four of the last five played on the road. Dallas arrives in this matchup against Minnesota having won two straight, 3 of the last 4 and seven of the last 10. Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger has a 2.43 goals against average and over the last five games in net, has allowed an average of just 2.35 goals per game. Six of the 18 goals Oettinger has given up over that span were in just one game versus Edmonton. |
12-29-22 | Red Wings v. Sabres -159 | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 35 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units There's a lot of unpredictability surrounding the Sabres as they haven't played in 10 days. However, I like them as a well-rested team to step up on their home ice and take over this game. The Sabres, who average 3.94 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement and passes near the net. The Sabres should also limit the Red Wings' offense with Rasmus Dahlin, Mattias Samuelsson, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Craig Anderson to step up and make plenty of big saves in the net. The Sabres should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice. |
12-29-22 | Senators v. Capitals -169 | 4-3 | Loss | -169 | 8 h 33 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators have looked promising this season and can easily pull off the upset and provide great odds in the process. The problem is the Capitals look like one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and look to control this game from the first period. The Capitals, who average 3.11 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with effective passes. The Capitals, who allow only 2.70 goals per game, should also limit the Senators' offense with Nick Jensen, Dmitry Orlov, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Darcy Kuemper to make plenty of big saves. The Capitals should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice to win their sixth game in a row. |
12-28-22 | Flames v. Seattle Kraken +103 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 51 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Flames will have to deal with fatigue after a tough battle against Edmonton. They’ve only won one of their last six games played on the second night of a back-to-back. On the other side, the Kraken will be well-rested and ready to bounce back from a tough loss against Vancouver, so I’m going with Seattle to win. The Kraken’s defense hasn’t impressed at all, but their offense has been one of the best in the league in 2022-23. Seattle is 6-2 in its previous eight showings on the home ice and 6-1 in its last seven games against the Pacific Division. |
12-28-22 | Golden Knights -175 v. Ducks | 2-3 | Loss | -175 | 12 h 15 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Ducks are the 2nd worst team in the NHL at the moment behind the Chicago Blackhawks, having amassed just 22 points from 35 games, posting a measly .314 points percentage and a league-worst minus-63 goal differential. So, tonight presents a great opportunity for Vegas to win for the third time in its last four fixtures and get back on the winning column on the road, where the team has already snatched 12 triumphs on the most recent 15 trips. The Golden Knights have already beaten Anaheim in a whopping 21 of their previous 25 meetings, triumphing by a margin of at least two snipes on 13 occasions. The Ducks, meanwhile, have lost by more than one goal in 19 of their 26 defeats this season. |
12-27-22 | Sharks v. Canucks -138 | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 13 h 32 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both San Jose and Vancouver have struggled to keep the puck out of their net so far this season. It’s tough to make the case for either side, though the Canucks seem a better offensive team than the Sharks. I’m backing the hosts to win only because they’ve dominated San Jose over the last few years. Vancouver is undefeated in seven straight meetings with San Jose including four encounters in 2022. The Canucks are 6-3 in their last nine games overall, while the Sharks have dropped ten of their previous 14 games at any location. San Jose is 1-4 in its last five showings on the road. |
12-27-22 | Wild v. Jets +108 | 4-1 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 35 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Winnipeg is hoping the holiday break cured an illness that was circulating through the team and had been hampering starting goalie Connor Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck has been the Jets' MVP this season. In 25 starts, Hellebuyck has a 16-8-1 record, a .928 save percentage (second in the NHL), 761 saves (second) and a 2.36 goals-against average (fifth). Because of the NHL collective bargaining agreement rules, Minnesota will have to travel to Winnipeg on the day of the game. The Wild had won six in a row before losing 5-2 to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. In that matchup, the Wild were on the receiving end of a dominant performance by Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson, who had a goal and three assists. Consider that the Jets are 19-9 in their last 28 overall. |
12-27-22 | Bruins -185 v. Senators | 2-3 | Loss | -185 | 10 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins come in with four straight wins and well-rested. The Senators are also well-rested but have lost three straight games. This is the first of a back-to-back for Boston as they return to New Jersey on Wednesday night. The Bruins dropped their only game to Ottawa this season, 7-5, back in October. Jeremy Swayman got the start in net in that game and had his worst performance of the season, letting up six goals before being relieved by Ullmark. Both goalies are fresh and ready to go in this one. Swayman is 3-1 with a 2.38 goals against average in his last five starts and would certainly like a chance at redemption against the Senators. Boston's high scoring offense should be able to exploit Ottawa for 5+ goals again and I don't foresee the Bruins giving up anywhere near 7 goals in the rematch. |
12-23-22 | Flames -200 v. Ducks | 3-2 | Win | 100 | 13 h 2 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Ducks have only won four of their last 18 games overall. On the other side, the Flames are winless in five consecutive outings on the second night of a back-to-back, so something’s got to give in this matchup. Calgary will have to deal with fatigue, but the Flames are arguably a much better team than Anaheim. The Flames have dominated the Ducks over the last few years, winning six of their previous seven encounters. Four of Calgary’s last five victories over Anaheim have come by two or more goals. |
12-23-22 | Canucks v. Oilers -196 | 5-2 | Loss | -196 | 12 h 34 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Canucks have looked promising and look to pull off the upset and provide great odds in the process. The problem is that they face an Oilers team that is coming off a dominant win and looks to control this game on both ends of the ice. The Oilers, who average 3.65 goals per game, should find the back of the net at will with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Oilers should also limit the Canucks offense with Darnell Nurse, Cody Ceci, and the rest of the defensive unit stepping up at the blue line and cutting off angles to the net on the rush while goaltender Stuart Skinner makes plenty of big saves in the net. |
12-23-22 | Panthers -116 v. Islanders | 1-5 | Loss | -116 | 9 h 27 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Well rested, with no shortage of determination to enter the Christmas break on a positive note and having already beaten the Islanders in their most recent five head-to-head clashes, the Panthers look more than promising ahead of their trip to Long Island. They have triumphed in just two of their past seven matchups, but have still split their last six travels and have been largely impressive when facing off against teams from the Metropolitan Division, winning on 24 of the past 33 occasions. The most recent record of the Islanders when playing the second part of their back-to-backs is a decent one (4-1). Still, New York has managed to bank just three victories in its previous 11 fixtures overall, winning just twice in its last 11 encounters against the Atlantic Division. Besides, the prospect of the Isles going with Cory Schneider, a goalie that has started just a single NHL game since the beginning of the 2021-22 season, definitely plays into the hands of the Cats. |
12-22-22 | Wild -160 v. Sharks | 2-5 | Loss | -160 | 12 h 39 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Filip Gustavsson has emerged victorious in six straight starts. Minnesota is undefeated in six straight showings on the second night of a back-to-back, so I’m not going to overthink this game. Of course, the Sharks are capable of beating the Wild. They’ve already done it this season, but the Sharks’ defense has been awful as of late. San Jose has only won three of its previous 13 games overall. Over their last six defeats, the Sharks have surrendered a thumping 31 goals. They are 2-5 in the last seven meetings with the Wild, who have recorded 11 wins in 14 games before Wednesday’s battle against Anaheim. |
12-22-22 | Islanders v. Rangers -152 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 6 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The New York Rangers are tough in goal, as Igor Shesterkin has a 2.42 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. Overall this season the Rangers are allowing an average of only 2.71 goals per game and New York is scoring an average of 3.24 goals per game. The Rangers have won seven of the last 8 overall and five of the last 6 when playing against a team with a winning record. The Islanders have lost four out of the last 5 and when playing on 2 days rest, the Islanders are 1-5 in the last six. The Rangers are 7-6-4 at home but have won each of the last three played on their home ice. The Islanders are 1-3 in their last four on the road. |
12-22-22 | Jets v. Bruins -230 | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 7 h 59 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Since 2016, .600 to .700 NHL underdogs off a home win in the first half of the regular season are just 14-51 versus teams with a winning record, losing by an average margin of 1.3 goals. These teams are an even worse 8-37 as road underdogs, losing by an average of 1.6 goals, and 6-33 if their win at home was by two or more goals., losing by an average margin of 1.87 goals. Since 1997, NHL underdogs off 15 or more wins in their last 20 games are just 284-366 (43.7%) with limited rest over their previous four games, including 51-82 (38.3%) since 2020 and 35-57 (38%) since 2021. |
12-21-22 | Canadiens v. Avalanche -255 | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 6 h 41 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Colorado has battled through a slew of injuries this season to push back into striking distance in the playoff picture in the Central Division race. The Avalanche will get Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, Darren Helm and others aback on the ice in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, they are still having success as other guys step up and contribute on each end of the ice. Georgiev has been stellar between the pipes and that’s something that we haven’t seen from Montreal this season. Goaltending is something that can make or break you in the NHL, as we’ve seen repeatedly over the years. The Canadiens struggle in their own end, they are dismal with the man advantage and they have offensive issues. |
12-21-22 | Lightning -155 v. Red Wings | 4-7 | Loss | -155 | 9 h 4 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units In the Wings' first meeting with the Lightning, Ville Husso made 44 saves and they scored three third-period goals, including a pair of empty-netters. The matchup today will be the second of four between the Atlantic Division teams, but they won't face each other again until Feb. 25. Tampa Bay had a five-game winning streak halted at Toronto on Tuesday. The Lightning were outshot 40-19 in the 4-1 loss, although two of the goals they gave up were empty-netters. Vladislav Namestnikov scored the lone Lightning goal. During the winning streak, Tampa Bay outscored the opposition 24-7. The Bolts have snatched 11 victories on their past 14 visits to Motor City, winning the very last three. |
12-20-22 | Ducks v. Kings -257 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 49 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Ducks have been awful on both sides of the ice since the opening week. They’ve won two straight contests, but I highly doubt their chances to make it three in a row even though the Kings are far away from a solid defensive team. Los Angeles possesses a lot of offensive weapons and should deal with the Ducks’ struggling defense, so I’m backing the Kings to beat the puck line because the money line odds are not attractive at all. Anaheim has gone 3-7-2 over its last 12 games overall. Each of the Ducks’ last four losses has come by two or more goals. Also, they are 3-7 in the last ten games against the Kings and 1-11 in their previous 12 encounters with the Western Conference. |
12-20-22 | Senators v. Jets -124 | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 23 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Senators are looking to rebound from a rough loss and pull off the upset in the upcoming game. The problem is that the Jets have looked like one of the best teams in the Western Conference and look to control this game from the opening puck drop. The Jets, who average 3.32 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net against a Senators defense that allows 3.16 goals per game with Kyle Connor, Pierre-Luc Dubois, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with quick passes. The Jets, who allow only 2.58 goals per game, should also limit the Senators' offense with Josh Morrissey, Brenden Dillon, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Connor Hellebuyck to make plenty of big saves. The Jets should win the game with a dominant performance on their home ice. |
12-20-22 | Blue Jackets v. Flyers -170 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Both Columbus and Philadelphia are equally struggling at the moment, sitting bottom and 2nd-last in the Eastern Conference respectively. The Blue Jackets, though, will be heading to Philly on the second night of their current back-to-back set, having already dropped 18 of their previous 25 no-rest decisions. The Flyers, on the other hand, will be extra fresh, having last skated on Saturday and amassed an excellent 6-1 record in their most recent seven outings played on a two days’ rest. Even more crucially, three of the past four overall victories of Philadelphia have all been by more than one goal, while the Jackets have been beaten by a margin of at least two snipes in six of their previous seven defeats, with seven of the very last nine decisions of their Latvian goalie Elvis Merzlikins ending with a loss by more than one marker. |
12-19-22 | Islanders v. Avalanche -145 | 0-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 34 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units This is going to be a great game between two of the better teams in the league. The Islanders look to pull off the upset but the Avalanche look to build off a recent win and control this game from the first period. The Avalanche, who average 3.03 goals per game, should constantly find the back of the net with Mikko Rantanen, Artturi Lehkonen, and the rest of the forward unit controlling the puck in the offensive zone and creating open shots with great puck movement. The Avalanche, who allow only 2.76 goals per game, should also limit the Islanders' offense with Cale Makar, Devon Toews, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Alexandar Georgiev to make plenty of big saves. The Avalanche should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. |
12-19-22 | Stars -215 v. Blue Jackets | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 44 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Only two wins have come about for the Stars on their last 10 visits to Ohio. Still, we are talking about the 2nd-best team from the Western Conference visiting the worst side from the Eastern Conference. So, do expect Dallas to deal with the hosts here quite comfortably! The Stars, who have already beaten the Blue Jackets in four of their previous five overall encounters, have triumphed by more than one snipe in 15 of their 18 victories this season. Columbus, meanwhile, has been outplayed by a margin of at least two markers in a whopping 17 of its 20 setbacks during the ongoing campaign, including the very last six. |
12-19-22 | Red Wings v. Capitals -169 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 42 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Red Wings are looking to snap out of their losing streak and win the upcoming game on the road. The problem is that they face a Capitals team that has played great in the recent games and looks to overwhelm the Red Wings on both ends of the ice. The Capitals, who average 3.03 goals per game, should create plenty of scoring chances with Alexander Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, and the rest of the forward unit establishing a strong offensive zone presence and creating open shots with great puck movement while John Carlson generates shots on the net from the blue line. The Capitals, who allow only 2.85 goals per game, should also limit the Red Wings, who have scored only 2.90 goals per game, with Nick Jensen, Trevor van Riemsdyk, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Charlie Lindgren to make plenty of big saves. The Capitals should win the game. |
12-19-22 | Panthers v. Bruins -180 | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 8 h 38 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units The Bruins will eventually lose at home...I think. The Bruins have dominated almost every major statistical category this season and come into this game very healthy. The Panthers will also likely get the misfortune of matching up with red-hot Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark. Ullmark is 17-1-1 on the season and owns a 1.83 goals against average and a .938 save percentage. Boston should take advantage of Florida's shaky special teams and put up goals on the power play and keep the Panther at bay on the penalty kill. It will be interesting to see how Boston controls the middle of the ice against the league leading team in shots on net, considering the Bruins are allowing the third lowest shots on net this season. |
12-18-22 | Rangers -211 v. Blackhawks | 7-1 | Win | 100 | 11 h 46 m | Show
Rating: 2 Units Chicago’s Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are set to play their 1,000th NHL game together tonight, becoming the 11th pair of teammates to reach the milestone in history. Still, don’t expect the celebrations to hit unforeseen heights, as the Blackhawks are not in for a rare win against the in-form Rangers. New York, which has already snatched six victories on its last eight trips to the Windy City, is currently riding a season-long six-game winning run, having triumphed by more than one snipe in four of those fixtures. The Blackhawks, meanwhile, have managed to muster just a single victory in their previous 15 outings, losing by a margin of at least two markers in a whopping 12 of them. |
